Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

You can adjust the flow on the waste line by adjusting the flush valve. If you crack that valve slightly, when you want to condense steam, you will increase the pressure and flow on your waste line. You will be making slightly less RO water if you do so, but it alleviates the flow issue you...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

It depends on your RO membrane's permeate flow percentage. It has been a few months since I changed my filter, but I believe it is printed on the side.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

I have very soft water (20 ppm TDS) as input into my RO filter. Even while making water with a 4:1 membrane, my TDS in the waste line should be 25. This is softer than most filtered spring water so I am not super worried about clogging it up. If I notice any change in performance, I will hit it...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Flow rate was reduced slightly due to the decrease in pressure to the dirty side of the membrane. No change in TDS. I always get 1 or 2 ppm out of the membrane, but I have pretty soft water. YMMV.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

So.... proof of concept worked flawlessly. For those interested in using the waste line of your RO filter, I was able to get 50 psi by adjusting the flow through the membrane slightly. Flowing freely, the pressure was only 20 psi. The small adjustment on the waste line more than doubled the...

Can you let us know what price will be? Don't want to wait a few days to start a ordering pieces if the price is going to be too high.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Bobby, Any update on when these will be rolled out? Just checked your site and couldn't find them. Since I can't find the 2" TC 1/2" NPT full coupling anywhere, I might as well give your solution a shot.

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Than Thanks for the response. I found an inline John Guest pressure meter. I ordered two. Once they show up, I will be able to measure pressure on the waste line. However your comment jogged my memory. I have a 100 gpd membrane. I dont recall my waste ratio, but 4:1 sounds about right. If...

Boil kettle condenser - no overhead ventilation needed

Brundog, thank you for the inspiration. I have made it to page 10 of the discussion, but have to get to bed and want to ask my question before I get too groggy and lost my thoughts. I hate wasting water. I was thinking I could use the waste water line from my RO water filter as the supply for...

Fermentation Stand for a pair of Spike CF15 Conicals w/ DIY Glycol Chiller

This is the stand as it sits now. 20180624_180414_resized by tripleD posted Aug 6, 2018 at 8:20 PM When I have some free time in the future, I am going to build an eight inch deep top to the stand for storing growlers up out of the way. Unfortunatly, while manipulating my DIY chiller, I...

Fermentation Stand for a pair of Spike CF15 Conicals w/ DIY Glycol Chiller

After taping off the garage to create a "spray room" I hit the stand with four coats of black acrylic semi-gloss. It took forever to cure, but it should wear pretty well. 20180624_131902_resized by tripleD posted Aug 6, 2018 at 8:20 PM I found some 16" wide galvinized pegboard pieces on Amazon...

Fermentation Stand for a pair of Spike CF15 Conicals w/ DIY Glycol Chiller

I wanted the ends of the stand to be solid. To give it a more pleasing look, I cut a radius on the top corners. 20180622_174727_resized by tripleD posted Aug 6, 2018 at 8:20 PM I built a 24x20 box to enclose my DIY glycol chiller and screwed it to the base. 20180623_083339_resized by tripleD...

Fermentation Stand for a pair of Spike CF15 Conicals w/ DIY Glycol Chiller

I enjoy woodworking and my garage pulls double duty as a woodworking shop and brew room. I had plenty of scrap wood left over from other projects. The stand is built from scraps of oak, pine, birch, and maple. Since I planned on painting the stand, I wasn't woried about matching grain. I built...

Fermentation Stand for a pair of Spike CF15 Conicals w/ DIY Glycol Chiller

I have been lurking on here for the better part of a year benefiting from the community's knowledge without sharing any of my own successes / failures. In an attempt to give back a little, I thought I would share my fermentation stand build in the hopes that someone can learn from my mistakes...
