Imperial Stout Clone Recipe Help, Please

I am planning to brew tomorrow, but...... My recipe calls for 8oz brown malt and I forgot to order it. It's an extract so it will only be steeped. So I was wondering if I can substitute 8oz of chocolate malt? Will this work or be a bit of an overload of chocolate malt?

    Re-Using A Yeast Cake - Question

The beer that gave this yeast cake was a double IPA with an initial gravity of 1.082 which is about the same for the Old Rasputin that I plan to use it for next. This should be ok then, right?

    Stupid liver

I have the same issue. I just eat well - I mean not too many fatty foods and try to exercise a few times a week. To me it seems just another way for the pharm companies to get us to buy into one of their new drugs. Oh, moderate drinking too - just a few a night on Thurs through Sunday...

    Re-Using A Yeast Cake - Question

If I have a LARGE (WYeast CA 001) yeast cake from a 3 gallon IPA that I brewed 2weeks ago, will it still be viable for a Russian Imperial? OR Should I make a starter batch with it and grow it a bit more? (It has been sitting in the fridge in a clean container during these past two weeks.)

Generic Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

I have two vials of CA001 from WYeast. One is a bit on the older side - said that last month was it's past due date. The other vial is brand spankin' new. Thought that I'd actually use the old one and make a nice 3 Quart starter 3-4 days before I brew this. I don't have anything to spin the...

Generic Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout

I figure with a 5 gallon batch I can try a few after it has done the old 1-2-3. Then I can try a WHOLE LOT later on in it's aging process. I'm really looking forward to this.
