Getting layed off might be a good thing

heh... Sorry I just miss read the title of the thread without the word off and was confused I think you can't go wrong checking out what other people have done and doing your own thing. Hard to mess up really. Take pics and let us see what you come up with.

    Brewpot ?

mostly people either do tip the keg to the side or more commonly they install a dip tube with a screen type device on it to filter out most of the hops/break material. If you have a dip tube with a false bottom like they sell for a HLT you may find you will still suck through pellet hops and...

    Spare Tire (Fat Tire clone)

I used mine for the first time two weekends ago and had to really keep it low or was wasting heat pushing it around the edges of the keggle. I realized that it had heated the skirt up to glowing red at one point and had to step it back a touch more. Too many BTUs is unlikely to be a problem...

    Cylinder Questions

nitrous oxide in a 50 lb tank is likely from either a dentists office, a lab, or much more likely someone's basement... I wouldn't mess with it if you don't have some idea of what you are doing and just trade it in. Nitrous isn't a good thing to decide to toy with around flames or non ventilated...

    Cylinder Questions

heh... dentist... yeah...:drunk: seems likely that any gas supply business would exchange it for you. I personally might just get it refilled :D

    Fatigued yeast?

hmm... edited as I actually read all the way through the post this time... looks like you may very well be simply done... thats an awfully high FG does it taste sweet? is it possible that you were mistaken about your hydrometer reading? otherwise... yeah warm it up and swirl that pacman back...

Water Heater Element - What size fitting?

since my last brew session, where I realized I was going to have to try out my IC with the march pump with silicon tubing as a HERMS due to a mash in of 142 degrees, I have been thinking of switching the HLT to an electric element or perhaps two. I had heard that it was not very effective to use...

    starter out of control

everything is moving along nicely this morning without incident. The stir plate prevents alot of collection of material on the top by stirring it back into the wort. :ban: of course I only use about a pound of DME for the gallon not the pound and a half that caused the starter volcanoes... but I...

    starter out of control

hmm... just made a gallon starter and put it on the stirplate. Now i'm paranoid to go to bed for fear it will spew out the top as I am sleeping:drunk: guess i'll just have to relax, have a homebrew, and go to bed.

    Stone Ruination Ale

I live close enough to skagit river to go get it whenever, and a few stores around here carry it. I thought it was over hopped the first time I had it... and then realized I was being silly. :rockin:

    I must confess

I think you'll be happy you did that. I used to think fat tire was pretty good till I realized pretty much every bar in the area has a better local brew. I find the skinny dip is a bit light for my tastes and the 1554 I find to be rather over rated for the hype. I do like the Terrior alot however.

    Stone Ruination Ale

I can take or leave the arrogant bastard but I really love the ruination. I think it pales in hop silliness next to the scullers from skagit brewery. If you get a chance you might want to pick up a 22 of it to make your mouth pucker.

    The best wort Chiller

thats who I got mine from too. Needs a cord, but nothing a trip to home despot couldn't fix, and I like the cord housing better as I have certain peoples that like to trip over cords and we wouldn't want the wires pulled out of the housing...:cross:

    My kegerator project- Part 1

won't a coller that size need some insulation? or are you not paying for the electric...;) anyhow, looks cool. Oh and say... :off: my nephew is in japan and says that it is actually illegal to homebrew there unless it is the (insert japanese word for really lame near beer here) or some kind...

    New Belgium 1554

I can't stand most new belgium beer off the shelves any more. There may indeed be a storage or shipping problem. I have had the 1554 on tap at the NW brewer's festival a few weekends ago and I did think it tasted significantly better than what i'd had from a bottle. Still... I didn't think it...

    Stir plate: Thermolyne Nuovo II?

my appologies, it seems like everytime someone posts about an item like that on the forum they get sniped out at auction because its now been brought to everyones attention. so it goes in the ebay/craig's list era I suppose. It does look like there is another one that has a stir bar going...
