South East Pennsylvania, here. Just wondering what the best time to harvest rhizomes to send /give away to friends/replant at as many relatives houses as possible :D Also, what is the best way to ship rhizomes? They will be shipping from Philly area to central Indiana (perhaps 3-5 days )

A corney keg works well as a form to wrap it around. You MUST fill the tube with something (sand, water) or it WILL kink.

Put everything (keg, CO2 tank, bottles, etc) that you will be using, in the fridge until it is all the same temp. Cuts down a lot on foaming. It will still foam a bit as the gas is trying to escape from solution. Let a little bit foam out of the top of bottle (to purge O2 in bottle) and cap...

Definitely rice hulls! For the price, they are worth it. I have made more hef's than any other beer. The ONLY stuck sparge I ever had (for any mash) was the time I thought I had some rice hulls at home, found out I didn't, and said "screw it" Rice hulls are your friend :rockin:

My (2nd year) Cascades were the first to come up and they are just INSANE. They are growing about 10-12" PER DAY !!!

You could try 1 gallon batches and trial and error it. I've got 6 different hops, now and I have no idea what the aau% is for any of them.

I've been using bleach for 2 years, now. StarSan on the kegs. I keep a rubbermaid tub next to the sink with bleach water and keep all my (non-stainless) equipment in it (stoppers, tubes, spoons, bottles). Very cheap to use, and failsafe if using the right ratio of bleach to water. Only real...
