    OxyClean!?!? I love that stuff and now I have a new use for it. Personally, Saranac labels have been my worst enemy the last few weeks. The Oktoberfest labels floated off in about ten minutes in ammonia but the rest have been a bit more persistent. I'll have to give the OC a try...

    I agree totally. Sanitation is so important to getting the result you want that you may want to spend the $20 or $30 on an extract kit. Try starting with a "more involved" extract kit if you think you're going to stay all grain. The extra time and steps involved will come in handy..

    Basement cooling off - SHOULD I WORRY??

    I know I'm new here, but our basement cools off as well, I find that the Autumn temps that result are perfect. I've also has to utilize the hot water heater and furnace a few times to help regulate some fermentations. Moving the carbouys closer or furthur away helps avoid plugging in the fridge...
