Took airlock off when bottling from primary...

I feel like a twit asking these types of questions but here we go anyway... I took the airlock off when I bottled from the primary. Was that the wrong thing to do?

    Fermentation stopped after 1 day

Argh... I just read an article Revvy had linked in another post... along the lines of "evaluate before action"... once you've taken an action it's hard to undo it. And never listen to your LHBS guy/girl... ask the guys/girls here. Two days is too soon for secondary :(

    It is time.....

    Cooper's Kits - feedback requested!

Yay! Glad it's bubbling now... although as mentioned by others lack of bubbling in the airlock doesn't mean it's not working... but it is reassuring when it does. :) I wouldn't take any more hydrometer readings now for at least a week... you can leave it until two or three days prior to your...

    Cooper's Kits - feedback requested!

haha Mr Impatient... my batches weren't bubbling within the first few hours either... but I think by the time you get up in the morning it will be... But don't worry if it's not... I've read it can even take 72 hours... Let us know if it's bubbling... :D

    Cooper's Kits - feedback requested!

I forgot to take an OG with my first batch... silly me... but after it was in the fermenter for about eight days I took a reading and it was 1008. I haven't taken another one, I think if I took one now it would still be 1008. I'm going to taste my beer after two weeks in a bottle, then again...

    Cooper's Kits - feedback requested!

You leave it in the primary even after there are two consecutive days at the same hydrometer reading so the yeast has a chance to clear up all the by-products of fermentation. Three weeks is recommended as a minimum I think... but I'm going to bottle my first batch after two weeks because I...

    Cooper's Kits - feedback requested!

Hello and welcome. I bought the Coopers Micro-Brew kit too. I'm still on my first brew though. So far it's been in the primary ten days. The kit and equipment are great... just ignore the instruction manual, lol... the guys on here will put you in the right direction. Four to seven days...

    3gal recipe for apfelwein?

Ok, thanks guys... and, this is a little embarrassing but I used half the yeast because I'm an inexperienced noob and I thought that was the correct thing to do... I threw the other half of the yeast packet in the bin lol *embarrassed* Edit: and I threw it in the bin because I wanted to only...

    3gal recipe for apfelwein?

Does that mean I have to put some more yeast in there? Or will it be ok? The airlock's been bubbling away for three days.
