Confession - I drank 4 day old beer

Thanks, yes I'm hoping that will be the answer. I will make the next glass I drink a lot cleaner and see how it goes.

Confession - I drank 4 day old beer

lol Revvy, yes you win! It was a Cooper's Lager. I haven't had any other Cooper's products before. And yes, you're right, because I was feeling very "experimental" I tipped the whole flammin' bottle into my final glass without leaving a bit in the bottom... there was yeast stuck to the...

Confession - I drank 4 day old beer

I had issues with a fresh corn on the cob once too! Then I had it another time and I was fine. Same with those puffy cheese flavoured corn snacks... sometimes I can get away with it and sometimes I can't. But the crisp corn chips get me everytime so I can't have them at all. I also get the...

Confession - I drank 4 day old beer

I went ahead and put that 4 day old beer in the freezer and drank it. I was expecting total ****e and was surprised the first glass had some bubbles and wasn't as cloudy as I expected. Definitely not ready of course. Second glass was flat as a pancake and cloudy and yucky. But I forced it...

Only in the bottle for four days...

lol Revvy, I already refilled that second primary... so I have the two primaries full again, and I look at those a couple of times a day (beer eye candy) and I pick up one of my bottles and squeeze it and look at it a few times a day... sigh... lol... there's only so much looking one can do!

Only in the bottle for four days...

Oh stop tempting me you bad boys... lol... I know very well if I open that beer it will be cloudy and flat!

Only in the bottle for four days...

...and I have a massive unbearable urge to chuck one in the freezer and drink it asap... I thought waiting while it was in the primary was difficult. This is worse!

Mr Beer or a kit with 5 gal buckets?

I bought two five gallon primaries because the waiting time between initially starting in the primary and actually drinking your beer is a minimum of five to six weeks... that's a hang of a long time to wait between batches.

How long did you extract brew before going to All Grain?

I'm on my third batch of plain old extract... I have no plans to go AG... especially if the extracts taste good. :)

    Lemon Zest

Oops yes, 5 gallon batch... so one week is enough time for the zest to sit in there?

    Lemon Zest

I made a batch of lager from a basic kit yesterday and it's bubbling away today. I would like to add lemon zest to it. Hopefully that is a good idea? First question is how much? And second question is when to add it? And do I need to take it back out again? (I bottle from my primary.) How...

    Whoops - too much water...

Yep, I bottled from it yesterday... put this new batch in today... gotta get the pipeline flowing... I've got another batch in a second primary that has been there for twelve days so will bottle that after another nine days. Also have a small 2 gallon batch of apfelwein going... haven't yet...

    Whoops - too much water...

Could I add some dextrose? Would that add more body? Or only more alcohol?

    Whoops - too much water...

The temp is about 78 - I mixed it very, very thoroughly... but the recipe said to make like this: 2 litres boiling water 1 can of extract (1.5kg) 1 can liquid sugar (1 kg) 17 litres cold water and instead I went like this: 2 litres of boiling water 1 can extract (1.5kg) 1 can...

    Whoops - too much water...

I think I put about half a gallon too much water in my batch. It's a Brewtec Lager (NZ Brand) kit and I used a can of liquid sugar. According to my OG (1.030) I'm going to end up with a pretty low alcohol beer... maybe 2.5% to 3%. I'm ok with that, I don't mind a low alcohol beer...

Disapointed in adding fruit.. didn't work

He used one pound for one gallon... I agree with poster above, try a glass of the cherry and a glass of the ordinary side by side... also get someone else to taste who doesn't know one is cherry and one isn't... see what they think. :)
