Were you talking to me? If so, I was never notified I won anything like that :/ I stopped brewing for a while (life got crazy busy) but am starting to get back into it and prep for the next competition and saw this thread...now I'm hoping I didn't miss out on something D:

plastic off flavor from better bottle

I want to say yes, I'm always good with cleaning, but I think I thought because it was new that I could just sanitize with star San and it would be good to go. That must be where I faulted :/ With time do you think the smell might disapate? I can drink it no problem, but I won't turn it in to...

plastic off flavor from better bottle

Tl;Dr at the bottom. I'm thinking there isn't much I can do at this point other than give it time and pray, but here's the scoop. I made a Munich Dunkel on 12/31, ended up being super efficient and had 8 gallons on a 6 gallon batch. Could only fit 6 gallons in my primary and didn't want to...

    JBLM Competition

Maybe I will come and bring my stout to see what you think. I found out my milk stout and my American stout got mixed up and judged in the wrong category, so I think my milk stout could've done a little better than it was judged had it gone in as a sweet stout lol! My American lager didn't...

    JBLM Competition

Nice, congrats! I'm looking forward to the notes as well, I'd love to see where I went wrong with my stout! On a side note, do you know why in the German Wheat and Rye's and Sours Category there was only a 2nd place finisher? The German wheat category had 3 entries, I'm assuming maybe the...

    JBLM Competition

I don't know about that, I thought my milk stout was a sure winner, and thought it was foolish to enter my other two because I didn't think they'd stand a chance, yet those are the two that won. I think best in show was a stout, so there were some good ones, I wouldn't be too disappointed...

    Green Taste - Pellet Hops

Interesting... I just followed my Beersmith recipe, I think for a porter the numbers are a little off, but I've got my style guide comparison set to American Stout, and everything seems to have fallen in line. OG/FG was supposed to be 1.059/1.018 according to BS, and I hit 1.058/1.017, so I...

    Green Taste - Pellet Hops

My goal was to follow my recipe exactly as I had done it before, as my first porter was my first all grain and it turned out so much better than my extracts ever did, I didn't want to change much of anything :) But yeah, my first one I did 6 days fermented, 4 days cold crash, and it turned out...

    Green Taste - Pellet Hops

So as the title suggests, I have what I believe is a green taste to my beer, but I've never had a beer turn out green before (at least that I noticed) so I'm not exactly sure that's what's happening or if I messed up. I made a Porter, second time I've made the recipe, but I tweaked it...

    Dark Ale - Too Plain/dry

Update! I transferred this to a keg last night, and did a finally gravity reading, tasting the beer in the process; I was immediately excited as the beer had picked up a little more sweetness and lost quite a bit of the dryness that it had a few days ago. I kegged it and force carbed it, pulled...
