    Wyeast Roselare blend available?

Of the sites/shops I normally use, Austin has it, I'm sure some others do too.

First attempt at a sour/wild ale

I've talked to him before too, about his PtY clone recipe, and I've had good experience. One thing that I am pretty sure I am going to do is to use the goodies from the bottom of a Temptation bottle to infect this beer. I was also thinking about purchasing more Brett C to get some more...

First attempt at a sour/wild ale

I'm not really looking to brew a Temptation clone, per se. I was more just going for a similar style. I have found a clone recipe, which is not all that different from what I am doing. And I have also heard that he is very helpful and willing to share with homebrewers. Unfortunately, I live...

First attempt at a sour/wild ale

Hey guys, I'm looking to brew a wild/sour ale, in part, for my girlfriend as the only types of beers she likes are fruity and sour ales (I really love sours as well). I was thinking of a Russian River Temptation style beer, but maybe a bit more fruit flavor (although I've only had...

    Tutorial for Shipping Beer

Just to go back to my previous post... I posted a question on Beer Advocate regarding the shipping of beer (or any alcohol) as there was a thread in the trading forums dealing with shipping. The explanation I received there was that it is a Federal crime to ship beer via the USPS, while it may...

Best Place to buy ingredients online?

+1 On both of those. The cool thing about Austin is that no matter what you buy (ie. how heavy it is) you can get it shipped for $8.

caught my dad with my gf? what to do?, very distraught...

This is hilarious. I had to steal your joke and post it on another forum (don't worry I gave you credit...no plagiarism occurred in the sharing of this joke)

    i poisoned myself

It's whisky for me as well. Bourbon, if you want to get picky about it. The smell of the stuff makes me want to puke. Strangely, I've had a few beers that were aged in Bourbon barrels and I found them to be delicious. But the real stuff... :(

Ok admit it, do you like drinking from the bottle better?

I definitely prefer it out of a glass. The only person I've ever met who prefers it from the bottle is my girlfriend's dad.

    Help! Need to chill wort!

If you have some sort of large storage container or a cooler that will fit your fermenter, fill it with water and ice and put your fermenter in there. I had a similar thought process as you did the other day on my first brew and this is what I did to remedy my problem so that I could pitch.

How many gallons of homebrew in 2009?

I'm proud to have my first batch fermenting as I type... 11,747+5=11,752

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

Sounds good. I have a feeling there will be a lot of "taking my time" and "being (too) careful" involved with this first batch. Thanks for your help!

    Bottling Tips for the Homebrewer

I will be using a bucket with a "spigot" and the dishwasher for the bottling of my first batch (such as the setup shown in the OP). But I had a question regarding racking from the fermenter to my bottling bucket... I have read many a passage in books and on the internet warning not to...

    Tutorial for Shipping Beer

I have shipped beer several times through the USPS and never had a problem. Again, just don't tell them what's in the box. They've never even asked me. Although, I tend to go to the little Post Office "annex" that's down the block. One thing that I do differently than you is the amount of...

    Hey there

Joined the forums last week but hadn't posted until today. My name is Andrew and I currently live in the Diamond Bar/Pomona area for school, but I am from the San Francisco area. Good to be here and I look forward to learning a lot and brewing some great beer.

    Sanitizing...

GilaMinumBeer: I came up with this nick back in high school and I still find it humorous, so I continue to use it. Plus, it's a conversation piece if nothing else. Back to the topic at hand... Thank you all for the tips. I will be using StarSan and I was planning on getting a spray...
