    Cherry Beer

Sorry for the slow follow up. I used way too many cherries!! The color is slightly less dark than a tomatoe juice. The taste is less tart and sweet than a grapefuit juice. The first time I had some (after a few beers), I thought this is not the worst beer I have ever had. The 2nd glass I...

    Cherry Beer

I used Jonas217's recipe except I used American Ale yeast II. Northern Brewer was out of the I yeast. It has been in the primary ferm since Aug. 4th. I am going to put it in the secondary tonight along with about 8 pounds of the cherries. I will keg it on Aug. 26th. I will give an update on...

    Cherry Beer

Great, this is the recipe I will try. I do have two questions though. When do you rack to the secondary? Do you add any rice hulls or do you have any problems when you are draining the wort?

    Cherry Beer

My mistake the cherrys are called nanking cherrys. These cherrys are smaller than the normal cherrys I find at the store. I will try to mash them. I was also thinking on putting them in a hop bag so that I could get them out easy. I will also freeze them first. I was thinking I would shoot...

    Cherry Beer

I have recently got permission to pick some Nottingham cherrys from a neighbors place. I have a few questions. I think I can find a cherry wheat recipe on here but do you always have to make a wheat beer or can you use a different style? What kind of prep work do I need to do on the cherrys...

    Keg to bottles?

I have a little beer left in my keg that I want to get rid of. Is it possible to rack from the keg to bottles and keep the CO2 from the keg in the beer without having to add more sugar?

    First cider question

From what I read back sweetening will make it sweeter. I have my first batch in the ferm now. Not sure what the gravity is now. I had a higher SG 1.071 but I used less sugar (1lb cane & 1 lb brown). I must have gotten the extra gravity from my apple juice (sams club-markers mark I think)...

    Hard cider first batch

I will look at the sources you sited. Wouldn't the kegerator temp halt fermentation?

    Hard cider first batch

So, back sweeten until you get the sweetness you desire? I used EC 1118. If I back sweeten it and put it to a kegerator that should prevent fermentatio-n from starting back up again?

    Hard cider first batch

And you do this to get a sweeter product?
