British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

Brewed the PM version the other night. Looked, smelled, and tasted awesome. One question though, what would be some reasons for a low efficiency? Method: DB Easy Partial Mashing Strike: 168 Mashed around 152 for 60 minutes. Sparged for 10 minutes at 160. LME added at 15 minutes left...

    Sanke Fermenter Conversion

I am still a noobie, so I have a few dumb questions: 1-Does this just fit on the top of a sanke keg w/o any modifications? 2-How do you clean the commercial beer out and how do you clean it after fermentation? 3-What would be the capabilities of this fermenter (volume)? 4-If I don't have a...

    Priming sugar help

Looks like that would work. Is there any issue with volume vs weight?

    Priming sugar help

I have a California Common that I would like to put in a corny and a minikeg (5 liter). I am planning on purging the oxygen out of the keg and then force carbing the corny. How much priming sugar would I need to put in the minikeg? Calculators say 1.3 oz; however, I don't have a scale. Does...

    Flare Nuts on IC

Lazy. I have a flaring tool that I borrowed from a guy at work and it seems a ton easier.

    Flare Nuts on IC

Quick question before we head out and buy all the parts. Building an immersion chiller with 3/8" copper and instead of soldering fittings, we thought we could use flare nut fittings. Does anyone see a downside to using flare nuts? Or would it be better to use compression fittings?

    GE side-by-side * temp control

Have you figured out if this will work? I was wanting to use the fridge side for ales and the freezer side for kegs.

    Lagering Question

My neighbor and I brewed a european pilsner about two weeks ago. He placed it in his fridge at 50 degrees. Just the other day, it occurred to him that he has forgotten to do the next step on the lager. What should be his next step now? Rack into a secondary and lower the temp to 40?

Is there a first time kegging tutorial around here?

....x2. I just came across a great deal on a CO2 tank, reg, and sanke keg, so now that I am switching to kegs, I wanted to thank everyone for their help.

Weissbier Bee Cave Brewery Bavarian Hefeweizen

I've been reading through the whole thread trying to find the PM recipe, now that I have re-read the AG recipe, there is no reason to do a PM, correct? I utilize the Deathbrewer Easy PM brewing method and could I not follow it for this recipe. Place the 11lbs of wheat and pils in a sack, mash...

    Weissbier Paulaner-style Hefe Weizen

Would there be any benefit in doing a partial mash version of this recipe? If so, does anyone have the grain bill available for a PM. I haven't stepped into all-grain yet and I really enjoy doing the partial mashing.

    Kegging > Bottling

Newbie question: Do you run into any problems doing this, besides using a little extra CO2? How do you know how much to purge with? (Just starting to put together keg system)

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

Thanks for the tips. Brewed my second mini mash last night and everything worked great. It actually went so well, I think I am going to hold off on the MLT until I get into AG or bigger PM. One question as usual: Early in the thread you spoke of efficiency...how is that determined and what...

Easy Partial Mash Brewing (with pics)

Thanks for the reply. We attempted the easy partial mash the other night using a higher ratio of 2qt/lb, so now we will knock it down. Everything went smoothly except I was unable to keep the mashing pot temperature stable. Once we hit 165*, I turned the temp to low added the grains, stirred...
