My first Stout and an AG question...

Watch all the Chris Knight videos. I have followed his methods on AG and kegging and everything has turned out great.

    Online Brewing Supplies

Unless you go local, I would recommend Brewmasters Warehouse as well as many of the other online shops b/c you cannot beat the 6.99 / 7.99 flat rate shipping.

Can you not go pick up your order from the store? If you tell me no, then I will be bummed b/c I am planning on meeting Ed and buying a few things over the holidays.

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

Brewed this last night and hit on OG of 1.069 for an efficiency of only 71%. This brew is going to be awesome. Efficiency could be better, but only my 2nd AG and I need to hurry up and get another few kegs so I can condition.

    Perlick creamer faucet

Quick question: If I am about to order 2 Perlick taps would it be worthwhile to just purchase two Perlick creamer faucets instead of one creamer and one regular? It seems like the Perlick creamer faucet is the "jack of all trades" b/c it will give a nice clean pour for blondes and a creamer...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

When you put it in the keg/secondary, do you have a modified lid to accommodate an airlock? Or do you just fill the keg, put the lid on, and place it in the fridge (no CO2)?

    Simple Starter Strategy

It's hard to not listen to all of the scientists. But it seems that if you just "Do It", everything will turn out fine.

    Brewmasters Warehouse

x2....awesome customer service, great packaging of ordered items (the yeast was packaged in foil covered bubble wrap envelopes), and ultra fast shipping <24hrs from door to door. A few of the ice packs were still solid and ice cold.

Thanks. I will try to find the other thread.

    Efficiency Problems

Good idea. Maybe I need to allow it to sparge a little longer. I'm not looking for a great efficiency, just somewhere closer to 70%.

    Efficiency Problems

I am topping it off with water in the primary. We took a reading before mixing a few batches ago and quickly realized our mistake; however, it was before the yeast was added and the lid was snapped. We made sure this time to stir and we usually use the siphon to pull a sample.

    DIY Grain Bag

I have been searching and have not had any luck, but does anyone have any recommendations on what fabric/thread to use for a grain bag as well as a hop bag? Also, any tips or tricks I should be aware of in making my own would be appreciated. Eric

I did not notice any intact kernels. I bought the ingredients from AHS. What else would you need to know to give other ideas?

    Efficiency Problems

Brewed the PM version of Lil Sparky's Nut Brown ale the other night and it looked, smelled, and tasted awesome. Grain Bill: 5 lbs 3.8 oz Pale Liquid Extract (8.0 SRM) 2 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) 13.2 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 60L (60.0 SRM) 14.2 oz Oats, Flaked (1.0 SRM) 6.6 oz...

Thanks. I will post it in the AG/PM board.

British Brown Ale Nut Brown AG

I did not hit my gravity by 5 points and therefore, using Beersmith, my efficiency was calculated as 59%.
