Are you using whole leaf or pellets? I use pellets and just throw them in (no hop bag needed). I dump the whole thing into primary and it will settle out with all of the sediment!

Def. innie! Virginia weather is too cold in the winter and it would be running all the time in the summer (it hit 97 today in May!)

Next time skip the secondary and keep it in primary for another week or two. A secondary isn't always needed and its one less chance for an infection.

I used to bartend at a beer bar and we would try different blends. Stoudts Double IPA and Stoudts Fat Dog Oatmeal Stout work really well. We called it a Stoudts Stacker. However, I would say I'm usually a beer purest!

I would love to see a blind tasting of PBR, Natty, Beast, and Bud. Any amount of $ says that virtually no one could correctly ID them!
