    Beer Rotation

I very rarely make the same beer twice with the exception of my pumpkin ale. Just brew whatever I'm feeling at the time and put together a recipe. Who cares as long as you like your beer !

    Wtf Nhl!!!!

According to the EA sports simulation, the Caps are only 1 game out of first in the Eastern Conference! Yeah, it's that sad that ESPN is actually posting video game simulations to replace games... :(

I agree, I have brewed many a beer that would taste better watching my Caps!

    Possible infection?

Did you taste a sample? How did it taste? If it tasted fine, your good to go! This seems obvious, but I have had similar issues and they turned out fine. I wouldn't be worried about the small stuff floating as long as their wasn't a pellicle (kind of powdery skin) which could possibly be lacto...

    Second Batch Red Ale

+1 def leave it for 3 weeks and bottle! Congrats on your second beer! I also agree, 1.024 would be very low, but it seems that you already found your issue! Do your self a favor and learn from most peoples (me included) early mistake of being impatient. Time = good beer! Let those yeasties do...

15 year old Mr Beer Kit (Youtube)

I loved watching these two videos. I am impressed that this guy stuck it out and continued to brew! How awesome is that! Hopefully, he now adds his yeast at a much lower temp than 86F, but I digress. If everyone had balls as big as Premnasbiaculeatus (God, I hate how long your username is) we...

    Spent Grains

I make pizza dough and dog treats. It goes a long way, so what I don't freeze, I take it to the local farmer's market/farmer to use for compost. At least I feel better about it growing into food for others than just dumping it in the trash! Support local and look out for your farmers! They will...

    Belma Hops

Hops Direct may be the best company in the country! I placed a hop order yesterday and didn't see this great deal. I just called them and they were very happy to pull my order and add a pound of Belma! Saved me a heap on shipping! THANK YOU HOPS DIRECT!

    What else besides beer?

I keg water and force carb for soda. I use the soda stream syrups and it works great!

    Dogfish black and blue ale

I love black & blue! I agree that it is better with age, but even fresh it is still worth $12! Black & Red was disgusting! I tried at @ the brewpub and was so disappointed because I thought it sounded good!

    Dme is pure evil

anything sticking to the neck of the flask will drip down to the bottom while it is boiling because of the condensation from boiling. I add one drop of fermcap-s and no more boil overs!

    Beer Emergency!

As a police officer myself, I can say that this happens more often than you would think! Usually hilarious, but more often than not annoying! I could write a book on crazy drunkards! HA!

Why to leave in primary if no air lock activity

I always leave my beers in primary for at least 3 weeks. Since I started with 3 weeks as opposed to 1 then secondary I have seen a vast improvement! As previously mentioned, it gives the yeast time to clean up any off flavors and helps make a clearer product as well!

    New dark beer technique?

I love stouts & porters, but have been very disappointed with my attempts for a couple of years. I make great IPAs, saisons etc, but all of my dark beers have a very weird astringent flavor to them. So, the my last attempt I tried something new and added the darker grains (black patent...

Cool trick to prevent boil overs

I live and die by fermcap-s! I started using it a couple of months ago and I'm never looking back! This stuff is like magic! It is especially useful in my flask when making starters!

    Starter questions?

You are fine. The purpose of yor starter it's not just for more cells, but more viable cells. So, even if you loose some, there are millions more in suspension! Swirl your flask to get most of it back into suspension and you will be good to go! On a side note, fermcap-s will help greatly in the...
