I throw them in almost every mash.
Nothing suck worse than a stuck sparge in a 30 gal. mash tun filled to the brim.
Don't ask me how I know this... :drunk:
I've seen these group buys fill in 18 hours before.
I know that I, personally, have about 100 gallons to get started on, ASAP.
I'm almost at the ail end of the last 450# that I picked up :rockin:
:mug:
10# of pbw would last me until doomsday.
I only run it through every 50 gallons or so. I recycle my water from the plate chiller, heat it to boiling and run it through the whole system after every brew.
I guess that Breiss is the only one offering flaked wheat or oats, then?
Bummer. I use both in my Wit, and the wheat in my Hefe (which I make a lot of for the Summer) but the LHBS doesn't even give me a reach-around for $2/lb. for each
(1/2) CM-MUNH (WITH KAPBREW13)
(3) BZ-PILS
(2) CM-PALE
I can split a light crystal and flaked oats with Defenestrate.
I also need a bag of flaked wheat (but I cannot find any other besides Breiss) Am I not looking hard enough?
The other guys beat me to it already :)
I'll split a bag of the cheapest which I think is the Best Maltz brand.
They have a light and a dark. I don't care which you want.
I throw mine into a pile at the end of the garden. Next time I mow the lawn, I throw the clippings on top. In the fall, it's the leaves from the tree.
Rinse and repeat
