    I used to use carboys exclusively. They became a real PITA to clean. Back to buckets I went for primary. I still secondary in carboys.

    I have bumped up to 15 gallon batches. I have 15 gallon keggles (1 for HLT, 1 for Boil) so obviously I can't boil 17-18 gallons down to a 15 gal batch :) I make recipe for 17 gallons (~ 1/2 gallon extra per 5 gallon batch to account for cooling/trub/fermentation/system losses) as I primary...

    RDWHAHB :D You should be just fine. If it helps you relax, I doubt it would RUIN your beer. Save a bottle. Next time make the beer the way you originally intended. Compare the two.

    As the saying goes... A watched pot never boils. For homebrewers, however, it goes like this: An UN-watched pot will ALWAYS boil over. Never take your eyes off the ball. Soak it in hot water, boiling if needed. Use a toothbrush. Rinse and repeat. It will eventually come clean.
