    Other hobbies besides brewing?

When I finally starting making some good money when I was 30 I thought to myself "what was I really interested getting into when I was young but my parents either couldn't/wouldn't pay for." My next thought was that it was now too late to start a coke habit. Besides the drumming, sports and...

I ran out of CO2 way too early...

I posted something similar with my first keg adventure. I am down (from the high pressure gauge about 1000psi. So something is going on. I am hosting a homebrew happy about in a few days so I am going to bite the bullet until I get that done and do some investigation.

1st time kegging..how much CO2 does it take?

Ok, I was an idiot and bottled my brew while I drank mass produced from my kegeraton. Then I put 2 and 2 together. I bought a corny and lines. I understand I am not just pushing beer through the keg in to the lines but putting CO2 in the brew. I am down from about 900 psi to about a little...

I was such a Non Kegging Idiot...

So..I got into homebrewing. I have brewed about six batches. Thought kegging was way out of my league. Then I realized that kegging requires a kegerator and the other need equip. Then I realized, I have that! I have been drinking such great stuff like Bud and Busch Light for years. $75...

To cut or not To cut...

Sorry, it is a 5 gallon corny. The pickup tube is right at the bottom. I have heard that cutting the tube up from the bottom 1/2 inch or so helps. Please let me now any more info you may need. Thx, Diz~

    Always use a blow off??

I have about six brews under my belt. The first was great, and gone fast. The next two I think I had ferment temp problems. Still very drinkable. Switched to AHB kits and the first one that is ready is heaven! I have two brews that I did on Saturday. One is in a plastic 6.5 and the other in a...

    From kettle to carboy

Are we talking pellet or leaf? I use pellet and just pour the whole shabang in the primary and let Newton take over.....is that right? Of course what is 'right' in this hobby other than the end product and that to me......is RIGHT!!!

    From kettle to carboy

Can't you just pour all the wort in the primary and everything settles out?

AHS Hoegaarden Clone - No Krausen??

I brewed the same thing and we had similar experiences. This is for a friend coming to town and Hoegaarden is his favorite favorite beer. He rememebers making beer in his dorm room and it turning out terrible, so this is my chance to shine as a brewer. Mine took a few days to take off...

Wife's reaction to new brewing hobby?

BELIEVE ME THIS IS CHEAPER THAN MY LAST HOBBY....Romote controlled planes. The last one I lost was $1300, and never found it. Saw it go in and that was it. This, a piece of cake. I did already have a kegerator (BMC beers) so beer isn't foreign around here. My wife loves the...

52 Bottle of Beers On The Floor...wipe one up..

Funny enough I am off to get a primary bucket with no spigot. I guess that is why they do call it a bottling bucket. God it smelled good, but I just couldn't take the chance. I have written to AHB begging for the state sale early (Washington) isn't up yet. I need to get another...

52 Bottle of Beers On The Floor...wipe one up..

I brewed a AHB Miami Wiess wheat about three and a half weeks ago. Still in primary and was going to be bottled this weekend. Joyous. Went down to the storage unit to get some bottles to prepare and I noticed there were more fruit flys than before. Then to my horror I see the primary about...

Bottling from a carboy / siphon?

Things went great and of course the complusory "extra" uncarbed beer tasted great. Can't wait, and now Revvy you make the wait even that much harder. BTW thanks for all the advice you give everyone here, it is more than appreciated. Diz.

Bottling from a carboy / siphon?

Thanks everyone for the help. I will transfer the hoegaarden from the secondary in to the empty carboy, add the priming sugar and rack away using the siphon. Should be fun. I just got the bottles out of the dishwasher after a heavy (no detergent) wash and will get to it, after trying a new...

Bottling from a carboy / siphon?

I made a logistical error as I was setting up for bottling today. I have a friend coming in the first week of Oct and I brewed up a Hoegaarden clone (his fav) to show him how good homebrew can be. My question is b/c my bottling bucket is in primary with a nice lemon wheat right now I have...
