    Austin Homebrew Hoegaarden Clone

It is super. I have the Hoegaarden in the secondary and the Miami Weiss that just started bubbling tonight! When I transfered the clone it smelled SPOT on! Everything is VERY well packaged, labeled and the instructions are great. AHB you have another order from me coming..... SMC

First batch of extract Hefe-Weizen and acidic after-taste

Welcome, No true answer from me. I was an idiot and put my hefe in a secondary, which lost the cloudiness, and also had a strange off flavor. I think it was that it fermented too hot. We had 90+ and I am not sure what our storage unit was at. I drank that batch, and it was strong...

Hoegaarden Wit Beer Clone Austin Homebrew

So I brewed this about three weeks ago, and forgot to get an OG. Great. It bubbled away after about a day and then stopped. Last night I was going in to the secondary and had a thought to swirl and let it sit, just in case. But after a few drinks I siphoned it in to the carboy. IT...

    Austin Homebrew Hoegaarden Clone

I have a good friend coming in to town and I thought I would brew this one for him. It is his fav. I am bubbling so all is good. I got the alcohol boost for it, why not? Any others brew this and enjoy it. I have to say that everything I received from Austin HB was packaged and labeled...

1st - Two Batches from Austin Home Brew

Zen, Thank you for your response. I will look into those shops. I do remember going to Bob's shop in a pinch when I broke my hyrdometer. It was a great shop and he was answering some pretty tough questions from a newer brewer. I do believe in supporting locally, no doubt, but am...

1st - Two Batches from Austin Home Brew

I wish not to throw any one HBS under the bus. I have staked out a few and just want to keep it simple. On my part, I could ask more questions about what would make a better brew than just bringing in a recipe or going by theirs. It was just the simplicity of the website allowing you to...

1st - Two Batches from Austin Home Brew

I am only three batches in with my soon to be illustrious brewing career. 1st wheat - great 2nd Hefe - fermented too hot, banana land 3rd wheat - ok, nothing spectacular I bought the Hoegaarden clone and Miami Weiss from austinhomebrew.com and they arrived today. I love my local HBS...

    2nd brew ideas?

I did alot of research before I got in to this obsession, and the most clear advice I got from someone was "brew something you like to drink." Others were making wild infused beers, but when it comes down to it, what do YOU like to drink, and drink a lot of it!

    Delabeling

Just got back from a great fourth and enjoyed my first batch..a nice wheat. Oxiclean is the greatest for a nice soak and get labels off. EXCEPT, Heineken bottles....it was me, my biceps and a pair of needle nose to get those off. Ayinger and Redhook were much more hospitable. :drunk:

    Hefeweizen

Excellent, thanks guys! I love this hobby and the friendliness of this board.

    Hefeweizen

I brewed a hefe (which I now know doesn’t need to be placed in a secondary and it is good. I have a hef in the primary bucket and it is just about ready to be bottled. Should I bottle straight from the bucket although the trub is just below the spigot, or should I transfer it to a carboy...

    Scared....a black Hefe?

Great, thank you. I was worried. Going to brew my next batch this weekend. Beer, can you beat it?

    Scared....a black Hefe?

I brewed my first batch, a light wheat and it is almost bottle conditioned and really good. I did my second batch, a hefe, and left it in the primary for ten days and in a secondary carboy for now two weeks. I am scared b/c it looks more black than golden hefe color. One thing I thought...

    Just Bottled First Batch......

I just bottled my first batch of a light wheat extract. The color was pretty light and after my calculations (b/c I used a 3 six packs of 12oz and 19 Twenty Two) I got around 52 beers. Sound about right? I primed correctly so now it is time to wait. I even had a pint of it as is and it...

    Racking From The Secondary?

Is it possible to start a siphon and rack to bottles with the beer still in the secondary? Anyone else tried this? Thanks, Shawn

Lagering ? and Brew Dance ?

Ok, I originally thought I would be brewing lagers and pils which I enjoy, but then learned of the cooler temps they deal with. Ok, I get you have to ferment cold, and then secondary cold AND I am guessing they need to bottle cold too? I have a small fridget that could do the first two of...

    2nd batch.....I thought it was bad...then....

This is my second batch and it didn't start well. I was going to brew a Hefe and well....I didn't read the instructions on the back of the Wyeast liquid yeast packet very well. The first instruction, that a three year old could understand, was "locate the inner pouch." Thinking of...

    Hydrometer Reading Only Two Days

Thanks for the reply. It was the choice of four prepared basic recipes from the LHBS. I chose the Light Wheat. I couldn't tell you the exact stuff other than I just knew (read) the instructions. Steep the grains, add to the kettle, heat the malt liquid extract to make it easier to pour, toss...
