Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

I found an old Apple charger (It's big; I think for a laptop) that shows output of 12dvc (or whatever the acronym is). It's a USB line that goes into the box/plug part. I don't know if it'll work, but I went on ahead and cut off the end and stripped the coating...there were two wires in there...

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

Great news! Can't wait to see how a fan does in mine...

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

I just found this. This dude's video is incredibly verbose, but it's worth posting for a visual "how-to." Thanks for all your help, HBT!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WkJ0AD59EYw

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

OK...I can do that! Are ALL cell phone wall adapters 12v capable? I have some extras of those sitting around the house. Sorry for the ignorance; I don't even know if I'm using the right jargon :cross:

We have the same kegerator, right? Edgestar KC2000?

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

I'm an electrical dumby :drunk:. I can't imagine hard-wiring anything. I think I'd rather drill a hole than attempt that.

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

Awesome. Question: I don't have an access for an electrical cord to leave the inside of the kegerator w/o having to drill a hole. Do they make battery powered fans, and will they operate at those cool temps? Is my only option to drill a hole for a plug-in fan?

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

Doh...I meant Office Depot, by my fingers typed otherwise ;-) Yes, nice to e-meet you, neighbor! And thanks for the help. Can't wait to see if it helps.

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

Kegerator is already down at lowest setting. The water glass is super cold, but not frozen. I don't have a temp reading because I currently don't have the proper thermometer for that. Thank you! I will try the fan route pronto! Can buy at Home Depot, I'm assuming? Also...from New Braunfels...

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

Noob kegger, here.... I've had a keg of beer in my kegerator for close to two weeks now. This is a new Edgestar KC2000 dual tap. I also have a half-full glass of water in there with the keg as a comparison "tool." The glass of water is much cooler than the beer coming out of my keg...

Single Faucet Danby Kegerator fit Two Corney Kegs?

Thanks for the replies and help, all! Hmmmm, my notifications never let me know there were any replies to my thread, so I'm late in getting these  At any rate, since I'm a newbie and modifying things is not my strongest suite, I just ended up going for the new "all included"...

    What is your neighborhood brewery?

Living smack dab in the middle of SA and Austin, TX, I'm within 40 miles of many great breweries. But, we do have a few breweries here in New Braunfels, TX...Guadalupe Brew Co., New Braunfels Brew Co., and The Faust Brew Co. The latter 2 are mediocre at best, but Guadalupe Brew Co brews...

    First brew pride :-)

Thanks again, brew friends! Wish some of you could taste it to give me notes since I'm sure I have my "first brew blinders" on ;-) So excited to keg my partial mash amber here very soon, and I'm going to attempt my first AG batch via BIAB next...PUMPED! I've got the brew bug :rockin:

    First brew pride :-)

Yeah, I've done juuuuust enough wine/mead brewing to know beer brewing would stick just as well, so I jumped the gun and bought a kegerator. I also had unexpected shoulder surgery while this was fermenting, so I knew I wouldn't be able to bottle by myself (a welcomed excuse). So glad I did...

    First brew pride :-)

My first brew! So proud :-). Kegged mocha milk stout from extract. Surprisingly decent!

    HBT is my life line

Ha, I feel your pain, friend! I, too, had shoulder surgery 2.5 weeks ago on my right shoulder, as well! Left hand, one finger typing is exhausting! I made sure to brew the night before surgery so it would be ready to go upon rehab time ;-) Hang in there, drink beer (instead of making it)...

    Aging Beer Conditions

Thank you, Yooper! Great stuff, there. In my particular case, I'm referring to aging a stout, so I'm glad you mentioned it, as well as the other great aging info. Thanks!

    Aging Beer Conditions

Yes, that's what I'm talking about. Mellowing and rounding of flavors...not so much clearing. And, I'm a "she" ;-)

    Aging Beer Conditions

What is the best practice for aging beer? And I'm talking about a fairly short aging...like from 2-8 weeks. Is is best to leave in the secondary carboy w/airlock at room temp? Or go on ahead and bottle/keg? Is the aging efficient while pressurized in a keg? In fridge or room temp? TIA!
