    Decisions-Decisions

Go with a milk stout kit...either extract or mini-mash. http://www.austinhomebrew.com/Beer/British-Irish-Ales/AHS-Sweet-Stout-13B.html#.VK7L3ivF98E

    New Beer's Resolutions

My New Beer's Resolution is to stop rushing my kegs to carb producing slightly over-carbed beer. I'm just so impatient and want to drink it!

    I am addicted...

I make a lot of kombucha on a weekly basis. I make 1 gal. batches which yields about 7-8 bottles...so a week's worth. Depending on the temp inside your house and where you live, it can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks to be ready to bottle. Bottling is much faster than beer bottling. 4 days in...

    Anyone have a Roomba?

Eh, it's good for hard floors, but that's it. Sucked on carpet. Just not strong enough for my shedding masters. I would trap my roomba in the kitchen or bathroom and let it go to town. Worked best when it couldn't leave a room. I like it alright...but NOT worth the $300 it was selling for a...

Sweet Stout Left Hand Milk Stout Clone

Just had my first taste of this, and it is great! My only subs were increasing the lactose to 1.25lbs, and increasing the chocolate malt to 1lb, and decreasing the roasted barley to 12oz. It's stellar. Better than Left Hand. Kegged at 5 weeks. Thanks for the great recipe!

Do you like where you live?

I, too, live in New Braunfels, but I have a more positive opinion of our awesome little town... Almost everyone that moves here loves it. Yes, it sucks being between two major cities, but that is also why many people love it. New Braunfels is super charming, so you definitely get that...

    Hello from South Texas!

Fellow S. Texan, here! I'm a noob, too, and I think the most important tip I've learned is to not let fermentation temp get too hot! Research "swamp cooler." It can get too high even sitting in an a/c'ed house. Welcome!

What "crap beer" do you secretly enjoy ???

When it's 108F outside in S. Texas, and I'm sitting on the river drinking all day long, my go-to light, clean, crisp, crappy beers are Lone Star and Miller Lite. What can I say, I'm a sucker for that throw-back label in the aluminum bottle! :-P

    How often do you drink?

I'd say I drink on average about 2 beers every day. Some days/weekends it exceeds that, but 2 seems to be my magic number. I use to be a big wine drinker, and I still love wine, but I stopped drinking it daily for a couple reasons. First, I started brewing. Then, I discovered I felt a LOT...

Using gelatin for the first time

I've had great success with gelatin and prefer it to irish moss. I take a small sauce pan/small pot, and 1 cup of room temp water. Sprinkle 1 pkg (~1 Tbs.) of the dry gelatin evenly over the surface of the water in the pot. Let it sit/"bloom" for a couple minutes. Then, turn on the burner...

    Edgestar KC2000 Thermostat Adjustment

Ok, I'm back with an update for anyone out there who may need to do this in the future. I ended up having the "back out" the screw another half turn as I could not keep it from freezing at the initial 2 turns backed out. The extra half turn backed out has turned out to be perfect...wahoo...

    Edgestar KC2000 Thermostat Adjustment

Thank you for your reply! Well, I got the cajones to do it, and I'm definitely colder...as in I froze my kegs :-/ So, now I'm in this phase of relearning my "new" thermostat dial. Kegs are defrosting, and I have a glass of water in the kegerator testing out my new range of temps. All in all...

    Edgestar KC2000 Thermostat Adjustment

I bought the Edgestar KC2000 kegerator a few weeks ago, and I'm very disappointed in the thermostat range. After doing some researching, I've discovered this is a pretty common complaint for this model. So common that Edgestar has released a video on how to adjust the thermostat to achieve a...

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

Fan has been in kegerator for 4 hours, and I just poured my first beer. What a difference!!! Finally, cold beer!

Keg not cooling as cold as "test" glass of water

UPDATE- got the fan running! It did not work with the Apple 12v usb set-up, but I found another a 5v AC plugin around the house, and it work! I'll pick up a 12v plug in today so it will run at full speed. Woohoo! Thanks, guys!
