    filtering ideas

Ok thanks. I was wondering if gravity could push it through a filter. And yes I do have a kegging system with 2 kegs, but I might try to use a small pump to push it through the filter into a keg. I only do 5 gallon batches at the moment and stagger them so I never have an empty keg around.

Naw, just thought there was a better option. Wine makers use an aquarium style pump to pull the wine through a plate filter into another carboy rather than into a keg but same idea. They cost $180 Canadian so not really worth it in my opinion. I'd be surprised if no one's made a cheaper...

How much pressure do you like to use? This guy made it work but I'm think of a way of using pressure to pull out of the carboy rather than push. If that makes sense...

Hey guys, I'm wondering if anyone had an ingenious way of filtering into a keg from a carboy? I have two kegs but luckily they're never both empty. I was thinking some kind of syphon you pump through a filter? Has anyone tried an aquarium pump with a .5 micron water filter or using online fuel...

    Newbie here

I've noticed a big improvement in final quality after I started ignoring the kit time table. Now I leave the beer in primary for min 2 weeks. Then I secondary for at least another week, cold crash for a day or two them add gelatin to the keg.

First Time Making Hard Cider (Advice Needed On Finishing)

I had great results racking to secondary, adding gelatin and leaving it another 10 days. Crystal clear with fg of 995. I ended up jacking it to get a little more potency.

    V vessel

That's good to hear. I think your right about the yeast settling out when I don't drink for a couple days. The first pint I pour has a slight yeast flavor but the next pint and the ones after that have less and less. The only issue is it it's not going away. I'm not sure if pulling a pint stirs...

    V vessel

Great, thanks for all the info. I'm really enjoying this new hobby. I realize there is a lot to learn but I am eager to do so. My red ale has been fermenting now 16 days, what I might do is, remove the primary bulb. When I put the ball back on I will add gelatin either to the ball or to the top...

    V vessel

My basement stays around 63-70 this time of year. I'm not set up for temp control yet. I've just pitched what they provide in the kit. Coopers yeast. The first batch didn't ferment very vigorusly and the taste was strong. The next batch ( an ipa ) fermented like crazy and I needed a blow off...

    V vessel

Thanks for the info guys. The Taste I'm describing is yeasty and a little sweet. It could be lack of age? I am still very new at this so it could be me (probly). Although my hydrometer readings were stable at 1010 on days 7,8,9.because I removed the primary bulb on day 10. Could there still be...

    V vessel

Hello, I'm currently brewing a wort kit, brewers best red ale. I'm using the original version of the fast ferment which was called the v vessel and I'm wondering about adding gelatin. I've brewed two other kits and didn't add any which was ok but I was getting that"homebrew" taste. Now I belive...
