    EBY/BBA Brettanomyces Experiment

Agree that an icepack would probably freeze 1mL vials. Definitely go with white boxes, and maybe those liquid coolers that don't freeze? Like those gel packs.

    EBY/BBA Brettanomyces Experiment

I would like to sign up, if there's still room even, but I'm not 100% sure how to go about that. If there is still room, my friend and I would be highly interested to take on as much as we can. Let me know, thanks!

    Coolship build

The idea in my head right now is to build an enclosure out of bricks, have the coolship on top and have storage for barrels in the bottom. Above would be some type of canopy over the coolship that would build up some microflora. Maybe even put a hop garden on the roof and start having hop vines...

    Coolship build

Found my coolship. Stainless steel, 42" x 24" x 10", should hold about ~43 gallons. Picking her up this week for $250.

    Coolship build

right but i meant for purposes of dirt and overall cleanliness of the room. theres some "nasties" that aren't exactly preferable to collect.

    Coolship build

reading about doing this, curious on updates as well as a few other questions that come to mind. i've read about how cantillion and other places fear cleaning the area of cobwebs and other filth to ensure they aren't tampering with the yeast. would anyone do anything specific to the area they...

    Beer From Only One Brewery?

The Bruery. I haven't had a single beer from them that hasn't completely intrigued me; not to mention what I haven't gotten my hands on. Dogfish Head and Russian River are close seconds, as well as Cantillon and Mikkeller. Port Brewing has been escalating in my books as well. I'm all for...

To drink or not to drink? (w/ pics)

Because it's still a beer I'd like get feedback from. It's not like its horrible tasting or disgusting. Thanks for the heads up, I actually already do make my own sours so I do already have two. I love sours. I have tons of ideas as to what I can potentially do with this. For now it'll...

To drink or not to drink? (w/ pics)

The beer is about as interesting as this picture: On the smell theres definitely a lot of funk. However, that's pretty much all there is. The beer by itself was a basic lager, nothing too special and just drinkable. Tasting it, there really isn't anything. Just very little body, very little...

To drink or not to drink? (w/ pics)

I'll be taste testing shortly, I just threw a new airlock on it (like that'll do anything at this point) and smelled it. The smell wasn't what I expected, it still smells similar to what it did about a year ago. Also the soapy taste could potentially be there, I saw cheezydemon3 just said that...

To drink or not to drink? (w/ pics)

Ok, so I've taken a hiatus from brewing over the past few months and I've been kegging and cleaning all that I've left behind from pretty much the winter. A little background, I brewed a few beers for a Christmas party last year and one of the lagers had a soapy kind of off flavor to it. SO...

    Charity Brew

Although I have no idea behind the legalities, our homebrew club just had a thanksgiving food drive. Basically whoever brought food and donated got free samples of homebrew. I think we had 7-9 kegs and a 7 tap jockey box.

    Homebrew Nightmares

I think I gave the wrong impression. I thought nothing much of the batch being short, and said to myself oh well, theres always next time. I'm not that concerned about it at all, I just found it funny that my dreams reflected that. I'm a heavy dreamer, I achieve lucidity a lot. I just thought...

    Homebrew Nightmares

Ok, so I brewed my first 10 gallon batch awhile ago. Nothing went wrong, aside from the fact a few weeks later I found out half of it was infected. Probably a slightly unsanitary carboy, my mistake. The other day I brewed another 10 gallon batch. This time I was 2 gallons short of the 10...

Apple Cinnamon (or Apple Jack's) IPA

Definitely let me know, especially before you add the extract. I'm not too keen on using extract so I'd like to go another route but let me know how the cider part turns out. Thanks! Edit: Another thought that just came to mind, since I will be kegging I could potentially easily back sweeten...

Apple Cinnamon (or Apple Jack's) IPA

Ok so here is what I brewed. My first plan was to do two batches, a 4% blonde and a typical pale ale. I came up short on the pale ale, I did this as a 10 gallon batch so I could have just the pale ale and another half apple cinnamon, but I'm about a gallon short in each fermentor (I evened them...

    Brewery Tasting Glasses

I'm a huge beer glass fanatic, I have at least 15-20 glasses so far and I've only been collecting for 3-4 months. (That doesn't include my 12 pack and 4 pack box sets ;) ) I just got one tasting glass and that was from a nano brewery. He said it himself, people just aren't that interesting in...
