I NEED help with my efficiency

Wow what a great read this thread is. I have an all electric system with a rims tube. I do not have my own mill, so I started double crushing at my LHBS. This has made the greatest difference in my efficiency. All of you guys worried about a stuck sparge are usually not constantly...

    20gal corny tanks

I found the info on these tanks from the company website, they are actually 16 gallon capacity. So they would make great 10 to 12 galllon batch fermenters.

    20gal corny tanks

Here are a few more pictures. the two extra ports, one is 1/4" pipe and one is 1/2" pipe Yardstick for measure The top right port unscrews, and is one piece with the dip tube attached. The inlet is 1/4" pipe thread. t

    20gal corny tanks

The tanks have 1/4" pipe thread on the inlet and outlet. The extra ports are 1/4" pipe thread and 1/2" pipe thread. The dip tube unscrews out of tank and has the 1/4" female inlet. Adaptors for 1/4" pipe to corny post are available here...

    20gal corny tanks

I don't know what they originally held, The guy told me coke syrup , but I don't understand the extra ports. The tanks measurements were more or less a guess. I have a 10 gallon corny, these tanks are the same diameter and twice as high, so thats how I came up with the 20 gal. size.

    20gal corny tanks

16 gallon - about 12 inches around and stand over 3 foot tall or so. They have dip tubes, but no disconnects. Oval lids do not have pressure relief valves. There are two extra ports that are 1/8" pipe thread, that would have to be plugged. Threads on top appear to be same thread as standard...

Duda Diesel - 30 Plate Chiller

I also use the big 30 plate like yours. Mine has 1" socket weld fittings on it, so that I could weld in some tri clover fitings. I also had to weld in some 3/4" pipe fittings for the garden hose fittings. He has new models like yours that are more "beer friendly". I don't believe that was...

    Jig didn't work for me...

I have cut the top out of about 8 different kegs. I have a socket wrapped in black tape with a bolt coming out of the 1/2" drive in the socket. Just a simple piece of barstock pivoting off of said bolt and bolted into the angle grinder handle threads for a side handle. One thing that I found...

    Hopster Hopscreen

I made this 8" diameter model with perforated mesh. I was able to source the mesh for dirt cheap at a scrapyard, only $8.00. Because it was bought there, I have no idea how they measure the size. McMaster's price on perforated mesh is out of this world. My system is electric, so I made it...

    Flanged Receptacles

I think mine are the Hubbel 2610 model. I don't see any more that cheap, I bought mine about 6 months ago from some woodworking place on Ebay.

Getting used to a fresh keg

:)My last Stone IPA clone did the exact same thing. I think I tasted more of the flavoring hops and it did not seem bitter enough. The second and third day, it tasted more bitter up front.

Back to Back Batches in 92 degrees

Did my first back to back batches in one day. The temperature was 92. I went at it slowly because I was brewing on blacktop. With prep cleanup, brewing all times 2, it was over a 10 hour day. First observations was that the strike water did not have to be as hot, and because the ground water...

    Flanged Receptacles

I got mine off ebay and paid less than 5 bucks each.

    Flanged Receptacles

I used regular outlets and not flalnged ones. I used a hole saw, then a die grinder until the outlet wiggled in real tight. Fitted the element upside down on the outside, and it gives you the template for drilling the mounting holes. The flalnged outlets are recessed and therefore more splach...

    Apricot Blonde question

For those of you that have made the Dry Dock brewing recipe, after three days of active fermentation, do you rack on top of the apricot puree, or just pour it in? I bought the puree and the grain, but I am not sure of this step. It would be easier to just dump it in. But would you stir it and...

    Is it really this simple?

My first run on my new system was not too bad other than breaking my hydrometer and not being able to take an O.G. reading. After a couple pints, I know it was close to the mark. The hardest part for me was figuring what strike temp the water needed to be in order to hit my mash target temp...

    Hop basket

Just finished this hop basket and will put it to use this weekend. It is made out of perforated 304 sheet. It is 8 inches in diameter and about 16.5" tall. The bottom is solid and has a 1" ring on the bottom. I'm thinking hop pellets will settle down in the bottom. I know the mesh will work...

The Chit Wagon (Portable Draft Homebrew on the beach)

Love the build! But why are you using 3 gas disconnects?

Anyone have Columbus Brewing IPA clone?

I was going to use EdWorts malt bill for the Stone IPA clone recipe. What hop schedule and amounts are you using for the Amarillo, Centennial, and Simcoe additions?
