Best way to re-heat smoked meat??

When ever we reheat pulled pork, we put it a pan with just a little beer, cover it with foil and heat it through in the oven. Turns out great every time.

    Who's smoking meat this weekend?

We didn't do anything elaborate, but we did some chicken with mesquite for dinner tonight. Came out quite good.

    Small Batch Winemaking

My husband and I have recently gotten into small batch beer making with a one gallon set up. I've made wine on a larger scale in five gallon batches before so I'm well acquainted with that process. I'm intrigued to know if you can make wine on a smaller scale. I've seen it referenced once or...

Anyone Have a Reliable 1 Gallon Recipe for Red Ale?

Thanks, but I don't have a LHBS close enough by and I've never brewed a larger batch - we're brand new to brewing. So I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.

Anyone Have a Reliable 1 Gallon Recipe for Red Ale?

My husband would like to make a red ale and we're set up to brew one gallon batches. I'd like to buy the ingredients for him as a Father's Day gift. Anyone have a reliable recipe they'd like to share, or can point me to? Thanks!

    Tax Stamps

These are great! I too do not have the patience to remove full labels more than I have to, but I still want a good looking way to identify different beer. This is the perfect solution.

What I did for beer today

I'm on here reading about beer. :-) Also checked on my order from Amazon for a digital scale - it shipped today!

    Bottle Etiquette

I guess I was thinking of both scenarios. So yeah, it would probably be tacky to ask for the bottles back from a Christmas gift or something. But I'm thinking that random beer gifts just because I like you means I can put it out there that that I'd like the bottles to come back. Hahahaha...

    I've got hop cones already!

Nice pictures! All worry about the wonky weather this year aside, it looks like you're well on your way to a nice harvest.

    Midwest Supply v. Northern Brewer

I got my Midwest order yesterday and it was perfect. Everything just as I ordered it, and in the right sized box with no extra space or packing materials (wasted packaging is a huge pet peeve of mine). Can't wait to try it out! But based off of everyone's feedback, I'll probably try Northern too...

How long did you extract brew before going to All Grain?

Same here, except I'll be doing the first batch this weekend. To me, brewing with all grain is just the same as cooking dinner from a recipe. As for the grain, I've heard of people making bread with it. Or you could always compost it if you have a garden.

    Bottle Etiquette

When you gift a six pack (or more) of home brew to someone, do you expect to get the bottles back? I plan on recycling swing-top bottles for my beer and I'd hope that they would come back to me after being consumed, but would it be rude to ask? I'd prefer to not buy new empty bottles (or...

    1-Gallon Brewers UNITE!

This is the thread for me. I'll be brewing for the first time this weekend - an all grain one gallon batch of brown ale from the Brooklyn Brew Shop book. I didn't get a kit, but instead purchased the basic ingredients from Midwest. I got all the equipment I need, plus enough grain, hops and...

    home brew mail?

Cost Plus World Market sells mix and match six packs for considerably less than $17 a six-pack in most states. Granted, their selection leans a bit more mainstream but you could try a variety of styles to find out what you like.

    Midwest Supply v. Northern Brewer

Finally yesterday the tracking number registered with Fedex and it's now on it's way; supposed to be delivered today. I'm pretty excited - I'll have everything to do my first brew over the holiday weekend! Oh yeah, I'm a total catalog junky. I have way to many in this house, but it's great...

    Midwest Supply v. Northern Brewer

I'm glad to hear so many positive reviews of Midwest, though I seem to be having some trouble with them... I made an order five days ago, they charged my card right away and then my status never changed to shipped. When I emailed to ask today, they said they didn't know what happened, but it's...
