    No action in primary (PICS)

I took the hydro on the first day but it got wiped off the white board. I can take another now, but without the other it does me no good. I guess I can take one now and see if it changes over the next few days.

    No action in primary (PICS)

I haven't seen any bubbling in the airlock in the primary on one of my last 2 batches. I kindof messed up and pitched the yeast strait into the wort without rehydrating or creaming it. Here is a pic. I think the residue on the sides is from my aeration, and not firmenting, but I could be wrong...

    Wort Airation

I went ahead and used the wine venturi aerator on my last two batches of wort on Sunday, and it worked amazing. There was so much head on that wort that it barely fit in my 6.5 gallon bucket...lol. Here's a short video to demonstrate, sorry it is sideways, I keep forgetting that neither my phone...

    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter?

Thanks for the info. I will see how much hops they gave me. Probably 1oz. Would you say I should use a different hops with lower AA but still try to get the 30 Ibu's while using the whole bag or will this matter. This is getting complex for this noob...lol.

    Boost Brew After Boil?

thanks guys. i was told regular cane sugar worked fine in small amounts like 1lb, not really changing the flavor much but increasing the alcohol by about 1%.

    Boost Brew After Boil?

Do I need to boil for any certain amount of time? Or just till it becomes 100% solution. Then cool...

    Boost Brew After Boil?

I have been adding about 1lb of sugar to my batches to boost the ABV but in the last 2 batches, done on Sunday, I forgot to add the additional sugar to the boil. Can I add this sugar to the firmenters? If so, how do I do this? Strait sugar grains? Boil in small amount of water?

    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter?

Also, the hops I used is Northern Brewer Alpha: 10.5%. They said that this would give me about 30 IBU with what I was mixing.

    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter?

I just picked up all the ingredients from the local brew shop. They had everything. The light DME was in 5# bags and 1# bags. I ended up with 7# total hoping that it won't change the recipe much. They also said that real vanilla beans can be very expensive. Can I use pure vanilla extract? If so...

    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter?

Thanks for the info. I will try it and see what happens. I'm going to take your recipe into the local brew shop so they can break it down. I am not experienced enough yet to know what toy are talking about exactly.

    Breckenridge Vanilla Porter?

I am looking to see if anyone knows of a recipe that is close to the brekonridge brewery vanilla porter. It is a lighter porter with a hint of vanilla. I want to give my local brew shop a recipe so they can make me an extract kit.

    Bottles (Color and Labels)

I will try the baking soda, since I have a ton of that for my aquariums...and see how it works. If it isn't good I will try the oxyclean. Thanks for the tips guys. Since I have so many brown bottles I will probably just stick with those. I do plan on leaving them on the shelf in the basement so...

    Bottles (Color and Labels)

Question #1 I was recently given a bunch of bottles. I have heard that brown bottles are better because they let in less light and I was wondering if there is any truth to this? I decided to throw out everything besides brown bottles for this reason, and because I think brown bottles are most...

    Batch Done?

Great. Thanks for the info. It makes sense.

    Batch Done?

Thanks guys. Sounds great. I will leave it in for sure. Now...why would it "clean up" more in the firmenter and not in the bottle. Won't it be basically the same?

    Batch Done?

I just took a hydrometer reading on my first two batches and was wondering if my beer is done? I have hit both my target ABV 6.5 on the oktoberfest, and 6.0(5.0 target) on cream ale. Both had a slight amount of head on them when I opened the buckets. The local brew shop said when I get down...

    My 50 cent wort aerator

Nice, MILES!!! Glad to see we have more in common. Ya, I just started my first batches a few days ago. I am stoked on this new hobby. I love me a good brew, and don't mind the money I save. Also don't mind the work involved, it's fun.
