    dry hopping w/ citra

Dry hopped an IPA (bittered with amarillo, flavor and aroma with cascade). I put 2 oz of citra right in the keg. It was fantastic...tropical fruit nose, but keg didn't last long enough to see if it died out quickly...

Want to make Hefeweizen like Butternuts Heinnieweiss

Thanks for the clarification. I am actually planning on starting my first hefe tomorrow. The SWMBO wants it swayed more towards the banana. I am using WY3068 (which I believe is similiar to WL300) so intended to ferment a bit warm. Sorry ot hijack the thread.......

First AG IPA....few questions for ya.

You don't have to secondary to dry hop, just want to be sure the fermentation is not too active anymore. I like to dry hop right into the keg. After I transfer the brew to the keg, I drop in a muslin bag of hops, seal and carbonate. No where for that beautiful aroma to escape!

Want to make Hefeweizen like Butternuts Heinnieweiss

I thought that it was the reverse of this. Higher temps (68-74) get more banana, and lower temps (60-64) give more clove and spice... Many threads and replies on this site list it this way (although I have not personnaly brewed a hefe yet).

    Do campden tablets de-chlorinate water

Another thing to keep in my mind is that many of the aquarium conditioners also contain oils (I think aloe vera) to coat and aid the fish. Not sure what affect this would have on the beer - possibly hurt head retention. If you have used it and not seen a problem then must be too small an...

    biab temperature monitoring question

What does it mean to "brick" your thermometer. During last brew, i used new thermometer...worked fine during mash, but when I went to use it later to check cooling, it was reading 106F for the ambient temp. It is a digital on with a probe, and I put the probe in the middle of the grain bag.

    Dry Hop in Keg Concerns

Update: I shook the keg up really well, and the taste greatly improved! All I can figure is that the hopsack was resting right next to the dip tube and just too concentrated. Still tasted too green, but right what should be expected after just 2 days in the keg. Much happier now... time to...

    Dry Hop in Keg Concerns

Two days ago I kegged my IPA. Sample tasted good at kegging. I wanted to dry hop it in the keg so I dropped in 2 oz. of citra hops in a sack (sanitized of course). Hooked it up to force carb, and chill in the keezer. Just for giggles, I pulled a draft today. Aroma was great, but the taste...

Found some baby rabbits in my back yard. What should I do?

Do not touch them (unless you are trying to get rid of them). If you touch the nest, the mother will abondon them. We had this happen multiple times, and based on advice from a local vet, ended up having to keep the babies in a box and feed them formula with a syringe until they could eat solids.

    Frozen Orange Juice????

You dont have to scrap the OJ idea altogether. I made a Blue Moon clone for my wife last year with bitter orange peel. Didn't have enough orange flavor so I added about 3/4 can frozen OJ concentrate right to the keg (after fermentaton of course). When tapped, it tasted just like you added an...
