    Post your infection

http://www.flickr.com/photos/49052497@N00/sets/72157624835029741/ Actually turned out pretty damned good! Just siphoned from underneath it. Glad I got that out of the way early in my brewing career.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

@tomlivings I don't remember mine really clearing up 'til after a month or so.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I did a 3 gal batch and just pitched the whole yeast packed and it turned out great!

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

The oak chips went in this past weekend for me, which made it about a month in primary sans chips. I'm going to bottle this weekend so it'll be about 5 weeks total in primary. Using a nifty priming calculator my plan is for about 3 oz of priming dextrose, then sit on my freaking hands for...

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

I don't plan on doing a 2ndary either. I'll do probably at least a month in primary, then add the oak chips and do another week or two on that. I think I'm at 2 weeks in primary now, and my gravity is already past the target (target was 1.017 and I measured 1.015 last night), which could be...

So why is my homebrew giving me the splats?

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

to be clear, that last oz was of that little bottle of pecan extract flavoring...not an additional oz of the chips. Dunno what you're supposed to do with that extra oz of chips, though.

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

@sh00t: it says to add 3 oz of the oak chips in secondary and 1 oz of flavoring before bottling.

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

I know, I know. I think I'd had a few and couldn't resist. :D I'll definitely keep folks up to date on how this goes. I suppose I'll just taste it and see whether I need to add any of the pecan extract, I'm kinda hoping not.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I'm already +1 primary and I'm only on my 2nd batch. Very seriously considered picking up another 5gal BB specifically for this given how quickly my first batch is going.

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

Brewed the AHS pecan porter mini-mash last night with a mod from their recipe after reading up on it here and chatting with one of the guys at AHS. I picked up some raw pecans, crushed them up a bit, and roasted the heck out of them 'til they were nearly burnt looking. Then I just put them in...

    Pecan beer?

+1 on (512)'s pecan porter. It's REALLY good.

    AHS Pecan Porter reviews???

Wonder if it's based on (512)'s pecan porter. That'd be great if so.

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    18381 + 3 = 18384

First brew, didn't go as planned

+1 on the larger primary. Without the extra space at the top (headspace), the krausen and other junk in your beer can clog up your airlock causing the primary-bomb. While a blow off tube setup will help, you really want to have a larger primary.
