Just Started My Christmas Apple-Cinnamon Wine - Dec. 8

I am going to have to argue that CampFireWine has absolutely never, ever tasted truly good homebrew. More likely, it seems as though he is stuck in a perpetual state of noobiness. For quite a while when I was first starting I thought my homebrew was awesome until I learned some patience. But...

    Pick apart this recipe

I add fruit to the secondary but do exactly what you are talking about - adding campden to the puree a day before. As in wine making that should 'sanitize' the pear must so you shouldn't have to worry about contamination. Also - maybe just skip the Fuggles if you don't want that aroma to...

    Irish Car Bomb Stout

I may be mistaken [I'm no theologian], but I'm pretty sure there is a special place in hell for somebody that would boil Jameson.

    Correct term for female brewer?

Mine says "Brewess" is her preferred nomenclature.

I f'ing love my barley crusher

I too love my BC. A note on the black rubber ring/band that is fitted around the second (non-cranked) roller. Mine broke off too after a couple of brews and my efficiency went up a few points (same water, same grain sacks). AND it got easier to crank - by hand and drill ... weird.

    Where did I go wrong?

I'm much more interested in: 1. the temperature of the wort when you pitched the yeast 2. the ambient temperature around the fermenter during primary 3. the taste/quality of the water you used When I hear 'alcoholy', I immediately assume that it is either a very young high...

    Light Wheat Recipe help

The newest version looks good to me - I've brewed a good number of light wheat and fruit flavored beers to appease my woman. Also - you shouldn't be worried about altering your recipe to match the type of fruit flavor the bride wants. The one you have now is so simple and light, any fruit will...

Yep - from alley in Austin

Hi everybody, I am a long-time lurker in Austin. I would have registered earlier, but somebody always posts what I would anyway. I have been brewing for 7+ years and look forward to finally sticking my nose in. BTW - All-grain Bulk buyer - yes, Ed - that means I've been to your...

    Homebrew stores..

Luck of the draw, I'm afraid. I was born in central Texas and moved to Austin, home of AustinHomebrew. The store is even better than the site (I have been to their third location now - mutherfers last moved away from me just when I moved closer to them, Forest!@). I can get stuff (HOPS!, etc)...

    The waiting game

I think that homebrewing has taught me more patience than anything else in my life. Trust - you will drink your early beer(s) too green; it will be ok, but no where nearly as good as what you will make later. It will take a little time to develop the patience to age properly and eventually...

    How much do you drink?

Well - that may explain how ya'll got pregnant! I joke because I envy - I keep feeding the little woman drinks every now and then and no bun in that oven.

Best method to get really clear beer?

I'm surprised nobody has yet mentioned the role of the yeast. Clarity will depend not only on the strain of yeast, but also the quality of the fermentation environment and age of the yeast propagation. Sure, certain yeast strains will yield less settling and therefore more cloudiness...

    Brew Stand from HD?
