Mini Mash System for Extract Brewers

If you guys come up with something, I'll happily try it to see if it improves the end result and/or the process.

Mini Mash System for Extract Brewers

First, I'll say up front that I know little about the process being pretty new to the scene. Second, as a partial mash brewer, where I steep my grains in muslin bags at 170 degrees for a period, rinse them with 170 degree water, and then add my dry malt, extract and hops, I'll say I'm pretty...

    Fridge Conversions

Superior Products has the same faucet and shank that I just bought. I paid $46 apiece locally. Superior has them for about half the price. http://www.superprod.com Part number 809465 I got two and drilled 1 " diameter holes in the side of my fridge, installed the faucets, connected...

    Bar plans

I built mine too., Simple 2x4frame with a 2 inch thick pine slab on top, with bark still on the outside. Shiplap 1/6s to box in the frame. Brass footrest from Kegworks.com. Make sure your bar overhang is sufficient to make sitting under it comfortable.

    Explain That Name

The only one I've names so far is my Chasin' the Tail Ale. After finally settling on a recipe, it's become very popular with my friends. Seems I keep chasin' my tail trying to make enough!

    Stuck Secondary??

I agree. I generally let it my brew sit in the fermenter for 7 days or so, making sure there is no more activity and that the surface is essentially clear of foam. Unless I'm doing a high gravity recipe that calls for pitching yeast in the secondary, then the only thing I'm doing in the...

    converting refrigerator: Door taps

I've got a good sized used refrigerator that I fit 2 corny kegs and co2 in, and it has a shelf above and door shelving for other stuff. Instead of adding a separate kegerator, I've decided I want to buy a couple door taps and the right connectors. That will be a cheap way to do it and will...

    How long in secondary?

With the ales and stouts I do, 1 week in the secondary is usually plenty.

    Dry Hopping with Pellets???

Here are the hops I used: Hops: 1 oz. Nugget hop pellets (Boiling hops 45 Min.) 1 oz. Perle hop pellets (Boiling hops 14 Min. ) 1 oz. Cascade hop pellets (finishing hops last 1 min.) 1 oz. Cascade hop pellets (dry hop in secondary) I thought the beer was outstanding! Very hoppy and...

Important lesson cutting grass and home brew

Yikes! Nasty stuff. Here in Mass. I'm just raking and cleaning up the yard. No lawn cutting for a few weeks I imagine.

    Dry Hopping with Pellets???

I just did an almost identical batch. I simply opened the bag of pellets and poured them into the secondary. (I used an oz). The beer turned out fantastic. Only thing I did different was to re-rack to another carboy for a couple days after 7 days in the secondary, because there was a lot of...
