    Raspberry Wheat

Did a recipe from my local homebrew shop. The Hefenweizen yeast gave it a taste I didn't like so I did it with White Labs Australian Ale yeast. All I can say is GREAT! :mug: Gonna have to make up another batch because this one won't last long!

    Adventures in outdoor brewing!

Here is my entry in my brewing notebook. As you can see, I had several issues. One was that I changed a lot of variables in this batch. Second, I am not used to using a turkey cooking burner. Third, I think the bazooka tube sucks, frankly. I also think the hole for the spigot that's in my...

What Brewing this Memorial Day Weekend?

Didn't brew anything. Went away for the weekend and then yesterday's brewing day turned into a mowing day! Oh well...gotta get some brewing done soon! Otherwise, I'll be the one with no homebrew!

I've got a partial extract recipe for a raspberry wheat that is copied below. I also plan on doing a raspberry ale this summer. I'll keep an eye out for the recipe. Raspberry Wheat Grain: 1# Light Wheat Grain Malt Extract: 3# Muntons Wheat Extract 1# Extra Light Dry Malt 1# Wheat...

How good is your sanitation? The George Fix test

I guess homebrewers who have consistently made great beer should feel reasonably comfortable with their procedures. OF course, I agree that proper sanitation is critical. But if it ain't broke......:)

    Addicted To Brewing!

I guess you missed the rant about all the guests coming up to my home bar and drinking my homebrew!

    Addicted To Brewing!

Man....I wish I could keep beer around by only brewing 2 times a month! I need to do about 5 batches a month just to keep up. But I agree...this IS addictive!!!!

Blow off tubes & plastic buckets

I took a piece of beer line hose, about a foot, jammed it right into the cover and then led the other end into a cleaned and sanitized plastic quart container half full of a star san solution. Making sure the hose is under the solution, my Imperial IPA is bubbling away like an aquarium aerator...

    Pain in the %$(!

Well...I finally got to brew with the converted Keg yesterday. I did the Imperial IPA and did a full 5 gallon boil. Lots of hops so my wife was happy I did it outside. It started out when I saw that the bag of dry malt had fallen onto an old co2 tank and punctured. Luckily I didn't lose...

    What's Brewing This Weekend? (5/13-13)

Did a nice Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone a couple weeks ago. LMK if you want the recipe, although it's only a partial... I'm doing a raspberry wheat and hopefully an Imperial IPA this weekend.:mug:

    I love this place!

    Dry Hopping with Pellets???

That's the only part about the dry hopping. All the floating hops. I usually have to re-rack and I end up losing more and more beer each time I do a transfer. This time, I didn't re-rack but siphoned through cheese cloth. Probably screwed up the beer because I know I added some O2 to the mix.

    Goose Island IPA

This is a Chicago Beer. Very nice. Anyone ever have it? Love to get a partial mash recipe!

is this a good deal? (40 qt. ss for 80 bucks)

Well..I got an empty keg for free. A friend cut off the top. I picked up a weldless spigot and ball valve, plus a bazooka tube set up for $60. 15 gallons of capacity. Just my 2 cents.

Burner large enough to hold keg brewing pot.

Yup. There is a Webber replacement that's 17" in diameter. For $10 I think I'll go with that! :rockin:

Burner large enough to hold keg brewing pot.

Yesterday I was all set to do a double batch outside using my converted keg boiling pot. Brought it outside and placed it on my turnkey fryer burner. The keg's diameter is 16 inches. The burner frame is 14 inches. Given that the bottom of the keg is not flat (outside ring and then concave)...
