    What carboy to get?

I started with glass. Its a pain to work with because of the breaking hazard and its kinda expensive. I starting bottling and after 12 that was enough for me and I switched to kegging. Once i started kegging I wish I would have just used corney kegs as a fermenter too. Since its easy to...

Help Wort chiller inside of the boil kettle ideas ( Its weird take a look)?

Look up at sharkbite fittings next time your at lowes they are nice and can be reused. As far as herms ya I was thinking about that. I tried to be cheap so I didn't have to buy a pump and this ways as cost me a lot more money I think. Its nice having it connected to the plumbing though...

Help Wort chiller inside of the boil kettle ideas ( Its weird take a look)?

I was wondering about that since people will put there chiller into the boil to help sanitize it. I figured why not have it in the whole time. I'm not gonna drill any more holes in the keg they will up straight up the top and make a 90 degree angle back to the return fittings.

    boiling wine like beer?

Yeah I was using some turbo yeast I had around the house :D and being my first batch I kinda threw it together. I can't find my notes but the starting gravity was very high. And it was fairly dry. On a side note where are you in the U.P I grew up in Iron Mountain and now I live in Ky.

Help Wort chiller inside of the boil kettle ideas ( Its weird take a look)?

Take a look at this video please YouTube - Permanent wort chiller in boil kettle (keggle) The system is hooked up to the plumbing of the house and it will be circulating cold water through the chiller then out to the drain. The two pieces of copper you see will have 90 degree elbow joints...

Help with mash tun sparge arm?

Here is a video of the new sparge arm. I designed it in a trial run but do you think I will be ok with this flow rate? There are 4 posts with 8x 1/16" dia holes. It seems kinda fast to me, granted its hooked up to the plumbing of the house but the ball valve is almost shut off. YouTube -...

    boiling wine like beer?

It wasn't really cloudy. I did mix it up a little when I was racking it to a bottling bucket so that didn't help with sidement. I also didn't use any isinglass either. There was a nice aroma from the berries but I think the strong abv hurt that a little.

5 gal water cooler bottles for fermenters

Delete this please. I should have searched and a number 7 recycle symbol is not a good thing :( hI have been thinking about using them since I can get some for free. They smell like plastic inside but a little vinegar helped that. I am gonna use them for wine I think since beer...

    boiling wine like beer?

I made a five gallon batch of wine with frozen blackberrys', raspberrys, and cranberrys. I had not made wine before so I made it like beer. I mixed it up I think I used about 8lbs or so of whole fruit, added a couple cups of sugar and then but it to a boil. I mashed the fruit while it was...

Help! Exhaust fans for my indoor propane brewing (problems with CO) and other ideas

Yeah I have the ventilation problem solved now. I actually had the tanks stored in the basement near the door for about a year now before I started this idea. But I never had a GAS detector since I didn't really think about them leaking and there was not a flame nearby. That seems to be the...

Help! Exhaust fans for my indoor propane brewing (problems with CO) and other ideas

I've watched the video. I'm not trying to tie anything into the main system of the house and mess with the natural gas lines. I understand the point you are trying to make though about propane and indoors. Any ideas on improving safety? The main problems with using turkey fryers I've seen is...
