That's the only way my recent Winter Ale survived 4 months without drinking. Gotta keep the beer supply up! :D

I blame my use of bleach as a sanitizer. I'm guessing somewhere along the line I didn't rinse something off as well as I should have.

I made the Honey Weizen kit from Midwest as my first beer ever. It got infected...tasted like I soaked about a million bandaids in it. :( My favorite kit from Midwest to date is either their Bass Ale Clone or New Castle Clone. Both are excellent.

I have a mini MLT (2 gallon) which fits 5 lbs. of grain perfectly. Looks that recipe has just over 4 lbs. That leaves extra room to sub some of the extract for a suitable base malt; in this case looks like that would be some UK 2-Row. I, like Brewing Clamper, am concerned with having enough...

    Pm Ipa

Now that is some hops! :cross: And some ABV to go with it. :D I'm not too much of a hop head so Two Hearted Ale is right up my alley. :off: Has anyone come up with a solid PM version of EdWort's Haus Pale Ale yet? I'd like to try that one as well.

I just did a Two Hearted Ale last week. Don't know what the final product tastes like, but if it's anything like the sample I took from the primary, it's going to be REALLY good. Here's the recipe I ended up with: 3.5 lbs. American 2-Row 1 lb. Vienna 0.5 lb. Crystal 40L 0.25 lb...

    From kits to recipes...

+1 for Extract w/steep kit. Just order one online or pick one up at your LHBS. I've brewed a few of Midwest's extract kits and they turned out great. Steeping is very simple; it's like making a gigantic pot of tea. The only thing you have to ensure is a steady temperature range. It's very...

    Sweetning EdWort's Apfelwein

I think you'll want to add in the lactose come bottling time. I actually need to do the same. The second batch I made was an experimental one using brown sugar instead of dextrose and adding some holiday spices. This was prior to me discovering the fact that molasses adds a very tart flavor...

Ahhh, that would work. I'll keep an eye on this thread to see what the answer to the 2-row is. I think next month Brewpastor should post AG/PM/Extract final recipes to the original post so we all know what we're making. I'm up for the 8-8-8 beerswap as well! I think that sounds like a fun idea!

Wow, looking at the extract version of the recipe (even translated into a PM) tells me that a partial boil is probably not doable.... Will a partial boil with 10 lbs. of extract work? Would you get any hop utilization at all? I'm sure a late extract addition would help. Can someone...

Broken Primary in the middle of Brewing - when store is closed

That reading sounds fine. You could easily be off a couple points from the wort not being mixed thoroughly enough or by the temperature at the time. The reboiling isn't particularily necessary, just an extra careful step. I'm sure everything is going to turn out fine! :D

    Beer for my bro...

+1 on the American Wheat idea. I just recently brewed an Easy Street Wheat clone and it turned out great. Craft beer drinkers and BMC drinkers both liked it.

Hehe, not mad. This has been one crazy year of football so far. I don't think I've ever picked this poorly. :drunk:

    garbage pail beer?

You're missing one very important cost which for some, including me, is the most important, and that is time. The time it would take to pull third runnings off your next 10 batches of beer, boil them down to something useful, care for them so they remain usable and uninfected (freezing, etc.)...

    Help an ipod newbie

Another option when you are copying music from someone else's computer is to just treat your iPod as an external HD. That's what I used to do. Just create a folder in the root directory and copy over all of the music you want. You won't be able to play it on your iPod like this, but you'll...

    garbage pail beer?

It requires apple juice to be considered apfelwein. Have you tried it before? I'm fairly certain you could despise apple juice and still enjoy this drink. I like grape juice and hate red wine, so why can't it work in reverse? :p Back on topic, I'd be curious to see how something like that...
