No more AG for me :(

I agree with everything said here. And honestly I was in the EXACT same boat you were in. My wife and I live with her parents, we're all a little hard up for cash and the group setting works well. My wife stays home all day to watch our baby and I have a 3 day weekend Sunday-Tuesday. So on one...

    First all grain a DISASTER

I looked into it, but to get my final gravity i'd need a hydrometer anyways. so what is the benefit to using a refractometer when I could just use a Hydrometer instead?

    First all grain a DISASTER

I only had it in there to know how close i was to boiling. I planned on removing it but I had a pretty violent hot break.

    First all grain a DISASTER

I don't wear a watch. Plus i had this nifty app on my phone that claimed to alert me when I needed to add my hops. I forgot to look at the time when my boil started. :drunk: Thanks. Don't worry I'm not throwing in the towel after 1 bad brewday. Although for about an hour afterwards I...

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

I thought "I have a grain mill! What can I mill that is similar in size to grain?" I got to eager. I got through like 7 peanuts before it made a mess.

Using a pasta maker to mill grain.

I just built one of these, (still need to knurl the rods some more, but here's a valuable lesson, DON'T USE PEANUTS TO TEST A MILL! you'll end up with peanutbutter.....

    Forcing Carbonation in Corny Keg?

The 6 month beers I was talking about are some light barleywines. I've seen some aged a year or so. But because he is a beginner (not knocking it we all started at some point) the beer should be aged some. Definitely not 2 weeks from brew to keg. *I assume 2 weeks because most beers i tried at...

    Forcing Carbonation in Corny Keg?

No!! Don't drink it so young! You're drinking subpar beer that way. The 3 weeks bottles take to condition and carb allow the beer to mature. Some beers don't hit their stride until 6 months (and others even longer!) Granted, some are good young (wits) but most should be aged! </rant>
