Boil off .. Just did a 5 gallon batch ... Ended up with 1 gallon of concentrated wort

:o crap I vigorously shook the 4 gallons with the concentrated wort and it seemed to mix completely together ... Then I added the yeast

Boil off .. Just did a 5 gallon batch ... Ended up with 1 gallon of concentrated wort

Hey HBT, I have consistently made a mistake every time I brew it seems. Time for an itinerary to be drawn up ... Anyway My latest blunder was about 2 hours ago, I boiled a orange creamsickle ale from AHS. Sort of like a dessert beer, starts with an orange flavor and finishes with a vanilla...

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

I suppose I don't understand why a short line screws up the carbonation. Interesting ...

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

:mug: I will crank to 30 psi tonight again absolutely ... I will try your test And Ding ding ding You are totally right. I am using a 5' out line that the homebrew supply store sold me. I had no idea that the length of a hose mattered in any way if at all. Idk why they'd sell me...

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

Good to know ... Figured that if my keg was busted that the priming sugar I added would help out ... Wrong!

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

Again, thanks yooper! The gas has never been shut off ... I made sure just now that the valve is wide open

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

:confused: Crap!!! I purchased all new equipment and as far as I can tell everything is ok. I hate this because I can't very well go to the brew store and return my regulator since I have beer that needs to be pressurized? I've always suspected my regulator ... Has a tendency to...

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

Also ... Tested. No leaks in my system. This will make the 5th day I've been "force carbing" I also added when kegging 2/3 of the priming sugar recommended for bottling into the keg

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

Hey HBT, Well on Sunday I kegged my first beer ever, an imperial Irish red ale from AHS. Everything went smoothly and I pressurized it at 20 psi Sunday night. Secondary regulator once cold was at 550 psi. On Thursday I was sure I would have a tasty carbonated beer waiting for me when I got...

Belgian Saison .... left it in indirect sunlight today ... crap!

Also, In avoidance of having to start another thread I have hopes I can get some words of wisdom on another question :) I have been brewing at my moms house lately since my little brother is home from college (UT Austin). It is great that I can be with everyone under the same roof for...

Belgian Saison .... left it in indirect sunlight today ... crap!

The beer kit itself did not include nearly as many hops as the last few batches of ingredients i've gotten from AHS. Especially the falconers flight, I am preparing to dry hop that one thursday in a secondary. It used 1 oz. of hops at the beginning of my last hour of boiling, and an addition...

Belgian Saison .... left it in indirect sunlight today ... crap!

Thank you thank you .... I hope this is correct ... some reading on the northern brewer forum and other various articles here lend to this line of thinking.

Belgian Saison .... left it in indirect sunlight today ... crap!

Hey HBT, Love the forum, it's been motivating me to read and learn a ton :) Well last night I decided to brew my brewers best belgian saison kit. The brew went wonderfully and I added my dry yeast last night at around 10 p.m. and this morning the brew was taking off like a rocket ship :D It...

English ale with honey ... first brew ... smells like wine? Bottling tomorrow!

Good to know. My cousin who has brewed in the past picked my starter kit and ingredients for me when I wasn't even aware liquid yeast existed. I have used liquid on my last 2 batches and had great results so far. Ill stick to them. Again, good to know

Texas Kolsche Brew from hell ... Advice needed

Thanks guys. So far the carboy looks good, normal fermentation by comparison to the others. Not as big a head of krausen but that's the only difference. I will post as this beer develops and definitely be mindful of my straining ;) Pat
