Dissapointed in Arrogant Bastard Clone ... thoughts on how I went wrong?

I added the extracts at the 60 minute mark as recommended ... I'm not sure what to think of this beer

Dissapointed in Arrogant Bastard Clone ... thoughts on how I went wrong?

Nope ... As a rule of thumb, I always go 3 weeks and I am golden. I was just in a rush this time ...

Dissapointed in Arrogant Bastard Clone ... thoughts on how I went wrong?

Hello HBT, 2 week ago I brewed a Bavarian Hefeweizen and an Arrogant Bastard clone from Austin Homebrew supply. I allowed both to ferment at 65 degrees and kept in a dark area. Saturday (the two week mark) I transferred both to kegs. The hefe is clearly lacking body/flat from no...

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

Excellent! I'm glad to hear that. The SWMBO thing cracks me up. And Stvo you're right .... 2 1/2 days in and the nasty rhino fart smell has taken over the room!

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

Well ... Now the krausen is gone at 6:40! I am not sure what to think about this, but am fascinated to have watched the krausen grow/develop/fall in 8 hours or so

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

The krausen thickens ... Lol I have just checked it 3 hours later. The head of krausen has gotten larger and filled out more. I'm glad to hear y'all say to relax, don't worry, sounds typical or possible etc. .... Ill just ride it out and let everyone know how it's developing ...

Apfelwein has a layer of krausen forming? I think?

Hey HBT, I have a quick question that search didn't help me too much with. Last night at around 10 p.m. I decided to make my first batch of apfelwein using edworts recipe. I used: - 5 gallons tree top apple juice (same edwort uses) - 2 lbs corn sugar (dextrose from LHBS) - 1 package...

First time brewer : too many options... ADVICE!

I started getting a mini mash kit from Austin homebrew supply. Every ingredient kit I've got had been super tasty, plus with mini mash you're doing a little bit of grain work which is cool and super rewarding. I would recommend their imperial Irish red ale...

My kegged kolsch tastes like water ... My falconers flight tastes like heaven

No I haven't ever done a kolsch before. Honestly I had no idea what a kolsch would taste like before I purchased the ingredients. This was a kit from Austin homebrew supply ... Here is the link http://www.austinhomebrew.com/product_info.php?products_id=10207 Mini-Mash - Liquid: 5 lb...

Boil off .. Just did a 5 gallon batch ... Ended up with 1 gallon of concentrated wort

Thanks for adding this in. I have noticed that too many homebrews during brew time can cause a little forgetfulness for me. I haven't passed out yet but we'll see :D Glad to hear yours still turned out well. Gives me hope.

Boil off .. Just did a 5 gallon batch ... Ended up with 1 gallon of concentrated wort

Thank you for raising these points. I did indeed shake the crap out of the carboy after adding the 4 gallons of water. The water I used was the hottest the sink would spit out (gets scalding hot) so it was definitely not cold water. After I mixed it all up I added the yeast ... I will...

Boil off .. Just did a 5 gallon batch ... Ended up with 1 gallon of concentrated wort

Well you are definitely right, the transfer to the carboy took a little longer and was more of a sticky mess at the end than other brews I've done. I noticed there was a slight darkening of color (just slightly, no scorching involved in any of the process) and you are probably correct about the...

AHS Texas Kolsch .. 3 weeks fermentation ... cold crashing? Need advice.

Hey HBT, Thanks everyone for always being quick to respond and helpful. This forum rocks :) So I have another question for the board that I didn't see specifically addressed in the search area. I have a Texas Kolsch from Austin Homebrew Supply that has been fermenting for 3 weeks as...

Kegging Q: 4 days at 20 psi, I day at 30 psi, still flat?? Why??

Ok Yooper, I tried your test/suggestion .. I cranked my PSI to 30 Thursday night, shook the crap out of it for 1-2 minutes, let it stay that way until Saturday morning (call it 36 hours), woke up and shook the crap out of it again, went to the LHBS store to buy a 12' hose, came back in 3-4...
