    yeah I toasted it at 350 for 7minutes and it was still light so I let it go for a little longer(less than a minute) untill I got some nice brown hues but still pretty light. Im sure the malt was on the pale side as it had almost no color. Lets see if I can sucessfully get a photo on here...

    Hey dan - I grow things for a living and have and use many different types of ph meters. As long as the one you ordered can be calibrated AND you actually calibrate it you should be ok. You should calibrate regularly and with the cheap 10$ ones you need to calibrate every time you turn it on...

    So I decided to add about a half oz of juniper (spontaneous addition not in the recipe) berries to my mash last week and yesterday when I racked the beer to its secondary fermenter I couldn't really taste it. Should I have used more? Or add it into the boil next time maybe? Or possibly cut back...

    Ive noticed that any time you eat something alive and yer not used to it yet it will give you gas. You could try decanting the beer onto a glass. that should reduce the live yeast intake a bit. :2cents:

    dont know how useful this may be to you but back in the day I fermented a bunch of celery, loosely following a recipie I found in an old book and that was the sour-est drink ever. Didn't even have a taste...just sour. :2cents:
