    Bad Keg???

Ok, I have two 5-gal kegs. These are used 'pepsi' kegs from Keg Connection online. I did off a couple of batches of beer recently, a Czechvar clone, and a 'cream of three crops' batch. Frankly the Czechvar came out AMAZING! My first lager, and I am hooked. The Cof3C's I have made...

    ebay refractometer not reading correctly

I did a little research, and realized the error of my ways. It should have been obvious to me, that a saline solution does not have the same refractive index as a sugar solution. so even though the meter shows S.G., it's a translated S.G. estimated on saline, not sugar. oops! Anyone want to...

    ebay refractometer not reading correctly

Hi folks, I picked up an ebay refractometer (I know, some of you might be already shaking your heads). It is listed as a salinity refractometer, and has a built in SG scale to 1.070. Problem is, I am not getting the right readings from it. a SG of 1.020 (measured by my hydrometer) is...

Does 52 ph stabilizer add anything to your water profile?

Thanks, I was incorrect in the beer, I meant Northern English Brown Ale. I had my next two batches mixed up! That would definitely be too much alkalinity otherwise!

Does 52 ph stabilizer add anything to your water profile?

so, I've been doing some AG brews for a while now, praying my local water is good, and using 52 stabilizer. Things are going good, but I'd like to start adjusting my water chemistry. I got a copy of the local water profile, and using Palmer's spreadsheet...

So I'm doing another run of Orfy's hobgoblin clone, which is excellent by the way, and was thinking about doing some First Wort Hopping. So, having read a number of sources, I'm confident to go ahead and toss the flavor hops in with the first runnings (which I would normally add with 15...
