brewkart + ditches + countertop brutus = this

Long story short this is a cart mounted all electric automated recirculating mash setup. There is a control panel just like brewkart has on the RH side you can't really see. Everything is hard plumbed and it only uses one pump, requires no pulling or reconnecting of any lines. It is very...

DIY Monster Bottle Tree w/ pics

I have never had an issue with head on my beers. When evaluating a brew and not just drinking it I use the pour 2/3 down the side and pour the last 1/3vertical into the beer and always seem to have a nice 3/4" to 1 1/2" of head. With regards to the bottle washing, I think the majority of...

2 RTD Temp Sensors (Switched) and 1 PID Controller

I did do some searching and couldn't find an answer... although I'm sure it is out there hiding! So if I'm missing it and you know where it is, please post the link. I'd like to add a 2nd RTD sensor to my system into Mash Tun. I already have one in my Boil Kettle and have a Auber PID...

Arduino temp probe K type or RTD ???

Can some people with experience please way in on whether or not it is better to use K type or RTD temp probes with your arduino? And how you wired yours up and how it works would be appreciated too. Thanks. I'm planning on buying one of the above types from Auber, but can't decide which is...

Stir Plate w/ Stir Rod in Boil Kettle

There are a couple reasons. My MLT is also recirculated through my BK, via coil, to maintain temp... so having the water movement across the heater element and then across the coils will ensure good consistent heating... During the boil it is good to just get the stir going to get the...

Stir Plate w/ Stir Rod in Boil Kettle

The advantage could be that the lid to the BK doesn't have anything on it, and no electrical wires running up to the top of the BK lid. Also, I like nylon bags for my additions. This way nothing to snag or catch. The stir rod is just free in the bottom spinning around. Cost... thinking I'd...

Stir Plate w/ Stir Rod in Boil Kettle

Has anyone attempted to use a stir plate with stir rod in their boil kettle? Obviously this would pertain to electric setups, not gas setups. Just curious how the results were, or if there were any issues. There are stir rods and plates rated up to 600 liters on the market, so it seems feasible.

Deep Six Brewery - back in action!

I'd highly recommend looking at making the attic space useable for storage. Even if you have to crawl around. You can easily install a drop/pull ladder to get up there. I did various quoting like this while building and was shocked at how cheap it was to just change the trusses to give me...

    False bottom.

Would a large nylon painters bag do the trick? I've seen this posted elsewhere. Sure it will affect efficiency slightly, but cleanup is a breeze.

    $60 Carboy and Bottle Washer

Pump included in the cost and minus the container. Container would probably be another $10-$15.

DIY Monster Bottle Tree w/ pics

Just tossing this out there, when I bottle I use my bottle washer which can wash 10 bottles at a time. Just this morning I did 4 cases in under 30 minutes using it. They go from there directly into the dishwasher. If you completely load up your bottom rack you can get a lot of bottles in...

Grain in painters bag - for easy cleanup ???

I was thinking of using the 5ga or 6ga nylon mesh bags. Water flows through these easily and they are available in differing mesh sizes. Plus they are washable and reusable. For me easy cleaning and cleanup is key, more time spent doing the fun stuff.

Grain in painters bag - for easy cleanup ???

Kind of a newb question, but I was wondering if it would be possible to put all of my grain into a painters bag. Drop that bag into my mash tun. It should be large and pliable enough to fill out the bottom of the tun. Obviously the false bottom would still be there. The whole point would be...

    $60 Carboy and Bottle Washer

If you removed the taking the labels off of the bottles this would actually be pretty easy. BTW, if I'm just doing bottles I can actually put the top on my rubbermade container. Imagine the following using the picture below. Two rubbermaid containers stacked up and then two 5 gallon buckets...

    Everything works great as is.

    $60 Carboy and Bottle Washer

There is a decent amount of pressure there, but I want to stress that you won't be bouncing any bottles off of the ceiling. Sorry to disappoint, but as long as you use the same size CPVC and number of outlets I have, everything will be well under control. Please post your setups once you get...

    $60 Carboy and Bottle Washer

Rather than capping that end I put a valve so that I could essentially throttle the output to the carboy. By doing this I can wash different types and sizes of containers. You could imagine a pressure that is suitable for a 6ga carboy would be way too much for a 3 ga Better Bottle. One could...

    $60 Carboy and Bottle Washer

I recirculate the water, so you don't need to worry about water usage. In fact, I think this setup saves water since I can put about 5 gallons in this setup with a sanitizer and use it to clean dozens of bottles (as opposed to a faucet with a bottle washer running down the drain for 30...

    $60 Carboy and Bottle Washer

Wanted a cheap and easy way to wash my bottles and my carboys. This setup can wash 1 carboy, 5 bottles, or 10 bottles based upon which valves are turned. Pump is a Barracuda and can output about 1500 gph. Cost came in just under $60 NOT including the container. The nice thing is that for...
