    DFH 90Min IPA Extract

I've not seen a 90 minute cloan, just the 60 and 120. It seems that the 60 minute has some good reviews. Just Search for "dogfish head clone". It retured alot of info.

    having trouble transferring to fermenter

I sanatize a small pot and use that as a laddle until I get about 1/2 of the cooled wort out of the boil kettle. Afte that I simply dump the remaining wort into a strainer, wich acts double duty as a filter for the hot break and hops, and as an areator. Seems to work fine. I also purchased a...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

I'll be picking up some on the way home tonight! :rockin: I've got to clean some bottles tonight so I can get a Oktoberfest out of the secondary, so while I wait for them to soak I'll be brewing up this delicious sounding brew.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Juice for Graff? I just purchased the DME and the Crystal (could only get 20L and no torrified wheat). I also picked up some Amarillo Hop pellets, I read they were real citrusy and floral, so I thought that would go well with the apple. So my next purchase is juice. The local orchard...

$15 for a 5 gallon batch? please tell me how.

Does beer clear up much in the bottle?

I'll comment on Revvy's comments. I gave a 6 pack of my first batch to a friend shortly after I bottled it. He didn't really care for it, as it had some very "green" flavors to it. Well, he waited 6 weeks or so and one night decided to try it again (his last of the 6). He called and told me it...

    So lost it's almost funny

It's best to leave the beer in bulk, as you have more yeast to clean up after themselves, plus you will have less sedimate in your bottle if you leave it in your fermentor. What might take 3 weeks to age in bulk might take 3 months in bottles. (time frames are not intended to be used as...

    So lost it's almost funny

Welcome! It sounds like you purchased a pre-hopped kit that includes the hops already in the can. Some of these make fairly good beer, nothing that will win awards, but good/fresh tasting brews for sure. You are taking a good step by using your hydrometer. If your hydro readings have...

    estery, estery beer

I thought Nottingham was fairly neutral in flavor and tolerated "higher" temps i.e 68degrees or so. Also, how did you under pitch? A standard packet of Notti should be more than enough for a 5 gallon batch. Was your OG too high? I'm simply asking because I have an Impreial Pale (og of 1.070)...

    Extract and trub.

On my first batch I had a lot of trub, but after that I started using a metal strainer. That decreased the amount of trub a lot.

    Oktoberfest

Spaten's Oktoberfest is one of my favorites, as is Sammy's. I have a brewer's best Oktoberfest bulk conditioning right now.

    Hello from Springfield,IL

Welcome. I'm relatively new her too, and from Peoria. I'm on my 4th batch, actually brewing right now, an Octoberfest Extract batch from Brewer's Best. It's not a true OF because it uses ale yeast, but i'm sure it will be good brew no mater what. Again Welcome!

    Malt Extract Gone BAD???

I recently brewed a Hefe with extract that was at least 3 years old. It too was off of craigslist, as were the hops and steeping grains. I purchased the yeast and brewed away. The color came out a little darker than I would have liked, but taste wise, It seems to be fine.

    first drink of first brew

Ha, yeah, I have two other batches brewed. One is almost ready to drink (actually I have about 6 of them down now. :) ) and the other is clearing and aging for the next 3 weeks. I have an open fermentor now, so I think I will start looking at batch number 4 in the next week or so.
