    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Recluse- Earlier on in this thread someone brought up that in a Steven King novel, Dark Tower, there is a unnamed malty cider drink that is only referred to as "Graff". Thus the name was created. :)

How many gallons of Brandon O's Graff have been made?

Mine has been in bottles for a few weeks, but it is awsome! 5 gallon batch 405.5 + 5 = 410.5

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

So, my first batch has been in bottles now for 20 days and all I can say is WOW! Nicely carbed up. Nice cidery taste, which is smoothed out with the malt and crystal. Slight bitter thanks to the Amarillo hops, which add a very slight citrus taste. Color is a clear, slightly hazy golden color...

Finally finished my 4 tap kegerator!

That's crazy, I just paid about double the price for half as much!

Water dripped in to my Fementor! Oops!

Thanks for the reassurances. I will proceed as usual or until something indicates I should do otherwise.

How Do I Take a Gravity Sample?

Arkador- I agree, I'm on my 7th batch now, with 4 ready to drink and one in the fermentor. I have forced myself to buy beer for the last two months, just so I didn't drink my homebrew. Now I can let my new beers age properly before I even try them, as I know now what a "green" beer tastes like...

Water dripped in to my Fementor! Oops!

So, last night I thought I would take a peek at my stout as the activity in the air lock has stopped. So I removed the fementor from the large troth of water it has been in since fermentation started. I had a t-shirt drapped over the bucket to wick water over the top of the bucket. Well this...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

1.009 for a few days sounds like it should have been done. How much priming sugar did you use. That could also contribute to the high levels of carbination. I too just tried mine after about 10 days in bottles and the stuff tastes great! I will be making more of it as soon as I get more...

    California Style Imperial Pale Ale

Ha, I'm drinking one of these right now! (if it is the brewer's best Imperial Pale Ale Kit) It was brewed in June, bottled in late july, and is now really coming together. Not very bitter or hoppy. It started out at 1.070ish and finished around 1.020. So it still is kind of sweet, but it has a...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Bottled my Graff tonight. Out of the primary the stuff tastes amazing. It finished at 1.008. It is not very sweet, and seems to be dry. The wife liked the sample I poured out of the bottling bucket. She is excited to have it carbed up and chilled down. Graff batch two may be in the works later...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Three weeks in primary. I brewed my graff on August 12, 2009 and I haven't had a chance to get it into bottles. The gravity started at 1.062 and is now at 1.008. I wont be able to get it into bottles until at least Friday, possibly Saturday. Should I be worried about letting it set for this...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

How clear does this stuff end up? Is it "sparkeling" clear or more of a hazy ale clear? Will gelatine/cold crashing help clear it? I used Irish Moss during the boil, but I'm not sure how much that helped due to the small (1 gallon) boil size. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks!

    Why anti-ice?

I used ice on my first batch, and had no issues. However, after reading the concerns here I decided to just build a chiller. It cost me about $25 in parts and took all of 10 minutes to assemble. Now I don't have to worry about buying ice before I brew nor do I have to worry about contamination...

Cleaning plastic fermenters with soft sponge

On my plastic "Ale Pales" I soak them with oxiclean for a day or so and then just rinse them off with warm water. If there is any stuck residue, I use my hand to wipe it away. The oxiclean does about 99% of the work.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

Yeah, I told my wife last night that I have enough materials minus the Juice to make another batch. Once she smelt it going into the bucket, she said that I should plan on another batch soon! :) This looks to be a good brew for sure.

    DFH 90Min IPA Extract

Steeping grains is like making tea: Simple. Place grains in bag, soak in 155-165 degree water for about 30 minutes, remove grains, bring your grain tea back to boil, remove from heat, add extract, bring wort back to boil, start on your hop schedule.... :)

    Is my hydrometer broken?

A hydromoter is nothing more than glass and a weight contained within the glass that is calibrated to float at a certain level (gravity) in pure water. So unless you broke the glass (surprised it didn't break from a fall) you should be fine. Your .00005 reading difference is more than likely...

    Didn't Steep Grains

^ actually forgetting the grain in an all grain brew would result in yeasty water. :)

    Out of sanitizer

if you have a tractor supply store near you you can buy their bulk soft iodine for a couple of bucks. I got the 1 gallon of it for $14. I'll never need to buy it again!
