Sanke keg for a serving vessel.

I would pull the dip tube (called a spear in a sanke keg). This will allow you to clean and fill the keg a lot easier. Also you should attach your coupler to the spear when it's out and dunk the entire thing (not hooked up to any lines) in sanitizer before reassembling and carbonating. I hope...

    Ghost chili IIPA

Ok, so I did my test last week using 1/2 gal of water and a bit of high octane spirits a friend makes. I measures out 0.1 grams of ghost chili flakes, added them to the water, shook and let sit for a bit. It was so hot!!! So I figured half that would be good. I measured out 0.5 grams of the...

Sanke keg for a serving vessel.

He means attach the coupler. The problem with his response is that most people only know of using a hand pump to serve out of a snake keg. He is referring to the connector that bars use. It has a gas in port and a liquid out port. So carbonating in a snake keg is the same as in a corney keg, you...

Johnson temp controller reads high sometimes

Most likely a problem with the probe. They sell replacements that are easily installed. Also, are you opening your keezer often? Do you have your probe submerged in liquid,

    Ghost chili IIPA

I do have a super accurate scale in my yeast lab, I'll measure out 1/5 of what i'm thinking and try it in water. I may have to scale it down further so I can add some vodka to mimic the alcohol content of the beer (because of the way alcohol interacts with capsicum)

    Ghost chili IIPA

Today I am brewing my first imperial IPA utilizing ghost chili flakes, I am wondering if anyone has experience with this. I am thinking 1/4oz of the flakes in secondary with my dry hop addition

I brewed a wit beer and pitched WLP550...

Belgian Wit... A lot of beers are brewed with wheat but not hefeweissen/wheat yeast. A lot of belgium and other beers are brewed with wheat. American IPAs Brewed with wheat have been gaining popularity but are brewed with american or English ale yeasts.

Has anyone used these for chilling?

My restaurant uses these to chill our soups. They are a lot faster than just throwing the batch into our walk in fridge, but would not be fast enough for wort. If they were stainless instead of plastic I could see them working better for brewing.

    Max fermentabilty of all-grain wort?

A lot of microbreweries will perform what's called a "forced wort test" where a small amount (1-2 liters) of wort is set aside before adding yeast, then a gravity reading is taken, yeast is pitched, and fermentation proceeds at much higher temps than normal. Although this will create a beer that...

    Dryhopped too soon

Early dry hopping can lead to less perceived effect of the hops. This is due to volatile oils being carried out of the fermentor by CO2. If you aren't hip to effective dry hopping, never use pellet hops. The process of pelletizing hops breaks open tons and tons of the plant's cells, releasing...
