    hopstopper users...

my dip tube does go to the bottom but it is angled so it is not directly against the mesh. Keep in mind this is happening with plain water, I've not tried the pump with wort yet. I think mine might be 30 x 30 and has something like 40% open area, I honestly don't recall the exact part...

    Plate Chiller

Mine is a square shape, I made it as large as possible to fit, I think 10". I also used .020" wire I think, it is very stiff. It just seems really odd that it can't flow enough water.

I also made my own with I think 60 x 60 mesh. I have what seems like an impossible problem. Mine seems to not be able to flow quick enough, Even gravity draining. It also forms an air pocket under the mesh. I have no idea how this is possible. The mesh is not that small. Any idea what...

    Mercury

This is terrible. I would have never known there was a problem with these and I've been putting them everyone in the house as needed. How on earth is the government allowing these to be sold?? I can buy poison lights at wal-mart but I can't buy beer.

    Gas prices

Do you guys honestly believe the market drives gas prices? I see so much demand in our area that every single station is constanly busy. They all charge basically the same price. Yet on the other end of town the prices are different, some times higher, some times lower. It also seemes like...

    Got gas?

We use turkey friers inside often with little ventilation. I don't think you need to worry about it. Heck this winter we brewed in a garage it was 19 outside and we kept the burner going the whole time with only a crack under the door. We were fine.

    Recycling.. Why don't we..

I think in recycle centers it is already sorted by hand. So if there was a separate bin for organics like glass or plastic it would make things easier. I pictured large feilds full of trash with very large land movers mixing it up. I guess I feel we only have so much landfill space and...

    Recycling.. Why don't we..

I don't know how many of you have gardens but one of the things I'm trying to do is recycle all my organic waste. This makes great soil for gardens and such. While I was thinking about this I started to wonder. Why don't we as a nation compost waste? Pretty much any paper, cardboard...

    Great read...regarding mashing

Isn't the short rest based on conversion? So why does it matter if you batch or fly sparge? What is the best method to test conversion? I've seen Iodine but had trouble determining the color.

    DIY Thermoelectric Temperature Control

sounds great to me, in fact I was thinking about an inset o ring but I doubted your ability. Silly me. Are we right that the extra metal to metal contact would greatly increase the heat transfer ability? Another idea would be puting a small heat exchanger on the inside. Not sure if...

    DIY Thermoelectric Temperature Control

Thanks yuri your photos help my thought process a lot. Your idea with the flat plate is actually something I was thinking as well. What I was thinking is. Make the flat spot on the keg side and on the outside things would look the same (setup wise) as now. On the inside make...
