Another noobie question about racking to secondary

haha yeah it seems to be the most constant answer you get when bringing up this subject from the "members with upgraded accounts" :) jk. I like cleaning things up a bit, it makes it real easy to not get any unwanted particles when transferring again into my bottling bucket.

Another noobie question about racking to secondary

I would plan ahead next time and be sure you have your primary in a location that you can siphon without having to move it... bring everything to your primary, not the other way around. I would say you have disturbed it enough to cause some bubbling. Same thing happens when you rack to your...

Priming (Corn) Sugar vs. DME for Hefeweizen?

I had great success with LDME. I checked my first bottle of a 90 min IPA clone after 10 days and it was carbonated perfectly as well as great taste. Its 4 weeks now and they are tasting better every time I open one up. What I always read about is corn sugar creates "bigger bubbles" where...

    When to refrigerate

Well I am happy to say I just tested one of my bottles of an India Pale Ale that has been bottled for 10 days and it tastes great! I am really shocked, I expected it to not taste as good as it is, as well as be perfectly carbonated at this point. I used DLME for priming. Should I stick what...

My IPA isnt too pale at all :(

so should I stick with my hop sequence? What would be a good time to add the PME?

My IPA isnt too pale at all :(

This is my second batch, my first being an Amber Ale. The IPA that is fermenting right now has been doing so for 5 days now, and its starting to slow down. The color though is very dark, just the same as my Amber Ale which is a reddish brown clear color. I steeped 1lbs of 2 row American, 1/2...

    New to brewing today

My first kit was 50 bucks... So I decided to piece together at Hoppy IPA and ended up paying 85 bucks..... (I had to buy a their bucket for extact so that is in the total and a better thermometer). I have far more better ingredients than if I went with a standard kit for 45 or 50 bucks. I...

    Is this ready to bottle?

Ok, day two of my gravity readings shows the same. But the smell of it is quite sweet, while the taste is not. But the taste does not bring any kick at all, so I am fully set on letting her set for another week at a minimum if not two. Im hoping time will improve the flavor. thanks to...

    Racking to secondary question

I moved to my secondary on my current batch due to the amount of hops that were pushed onto the roof of my carboy during the first 36 hours. I had so much activity that my airlock was overflowing with foam. So when I opened it up to check gravity, I had large amounts of "junk" falling into my...

    Is this ready to bottle?

thanks for the info, after tasting it today it wasnt very impressive as it should be for an ale. I expect it to get better so its going to sit as everyone has directed.

    Is this ready to bottle?

so from this point its just a matter of letting it sit for a couple more weeks? Should I do anything to it to get more activity from the yeast? Thanks for everyones input so far!!

    Is this ready to bottle?

to be honest this is my first gravity test. I planned on starting today and test through the weekend. It had a very aggressive first 36 hours, I had alot of foam and hops push up into my airlock. after that it settled down and became very calm. EDIT: the instructions that came with the kit...

    Is this ready to bottle?

This is my first batch, an Amber Ale from an extract kit. I do not know the OG. It has been only a week since Fermantation began. It has a sweet smell but does not taste that way. Should I bottle or let it sit? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
