Question about the 240v induction cookers: I'm guessing they're wired for 3-wire international... hot, neutral, ground? Are you modifying the plug to insert in a North American receptical? I have a 4-wire dryer plug I could use and I'm comfortable installing a new plug but I don't know if...

I don't know anything about the designated beer filter systems you're refering to, but my home water filter always ends up having a fair amount of bubbles flowing in and around the filter housing when I'm running my water... I would be worried about oxidation under those conditions.

I've used paint strainer bags with leaf hops, tied in a knot and just tossed in my kettle during the boil. This setup is propane fired, but there is not melting of the bag due to hot kettle bottom.

Nice idea... clean and simple. To bigdubz: you can make it a bit cleaner and simpler looking by using the push-button illuminated switches from Auber. You need half as many holes drilled in the front that way. I'll try to remember upload a picture, but I did something similar to this for...

I have a 1500W rims tube that has no trouble hitting my target temperature on 35L of water with 16 pounds of grains, outside in -5C weather and no insulation on the mash tun. I think I loose a degree or two as the liquid goes through the grains due to lack of insulation, but the rims tube...

I wasn't timing anything on my first test, but I'll try to time it next time.

It will work, but I think it will be slow. I just built my system and my test was on 40 liters, but it took a long time to reach my target temperature with my 1500 watt element.
