Unboxing the Nano from CO Brewing

Hey @pretzelb, when doing a 5 gallon batch in the 20 gallon kettle, how much wort is under the basket? I got my kettle/basket last week (not the rest of the system) and I'm worried I effectively won't be able to do low gravity 5 gallon batches.

    Colorado System vs. HREMS

Most brewers I know who make great beer are making it in a big ass pot and a cooler, or a big ass pot and a bag. The quality of the beer will come down to you, not your system. Make/buy an automated system because it's fun, because it'll save time, for consistency, or just because it's sexy...

    3-wire -> Spa GFI -> Control box

First of all, IANAE, at all, so grains of salt abound. If I understand your question correctly, I think the issue is A) -- many control boxes use a 120 circuit formed by the neutral and one of the hot legs. In that situation, there shouldn't be any reason why a controller with a separate 120V...

    Computer controlled Vs. Component/manual Controlled?

They're not on the internet, they're on your local network. If the connection to the internet is lost, your local network is still there. edit: to expand on this: The Internet is a network of smaller computer networks. Everything connected to your router, either via WiFi or with a wired...

5-15 gal eBIAB system + brewery build

Soon! Just need to finish building my stand and probably drop some more money on fittings and I'll be ready to go when it gets here.

5-15 gal eBIAB system + brewery build

As far as I can tell, they're super backed up now. I ordered a kettle 2/9 and it just switched to "In Production" on 3/24.

Testing 240V outlet and GFCI spa panel

The wires coming out from the breaker are the same wires (as in, physically the same lengths of wire) as the ones in the outlet, which don't look small, so it must just be the picture and the fact that there's a larger gauge white wire in the panel for the neutral bus. They're 10ga stranded...

Unboxing Colorado Brewing Systems new Single Vessel System

Wow, I'm glad I got in when I did. The 20 gallon system with just kettle, basket, and hardware is $710 now. That's basically what I ordered as a custom kettle and it was $540.

Testing 240V outlet and GFCI spa panel

    It's all 10ga stranded.

    Hosehead Brewery

Another thing: Elsinore seems to recognize the temperature sensor when I plug it in (I only plugged in the yellow one, which is associated with element 1). However, it reads a constant 0.00F. What other setup do I need to do to get my temp sensor working? edit: restarted Elsinore, everything...

Testing 240V outlet and GFCI spa panel

I recently had a 30A breaker installed, connected to a 50A spa panel and a receptacle. Yesterday, I realized I needed a different receptacle (I had an L14-20 receptacle, but my controller uses a 14-50 plug), so I replaced the receptacle. To check my work, I dug my multimeter out and tested it...

    First E-Brew Day

The reason you're getting pulsing is that the 55-60% you've got it set at for the boil means the element is 100% on, 55-60% of the duty cycle. If the duty cycle is 2 seconds, the element is 100% on for 1.1-1.2 seconds, then off for .8-.9 seconds. 2 seconds is generally the recommended duty...

    Hosehead Brewery

Yes, I understand all that. I only want to run one element (I'm doing a BIAB system, so I only have one element to begin with). What I was asking is if I could easily plug the 14-50 plug into an L6-30 outlet, but I ended up answering my own question. After a quick chat with my electrician...

    Hosehead Brewery

My Hosehead came in the mail today, which is exciting. Unfortunately, there's one problem -- when I ordered, it was the Hosehead 3BC, which was supposed to come with a length of unterminated 10/3 wire for power input. So, I had a NEMA L6-30 outlet installed and bought an L6-30 plug. In the...

    Hosehead Brewery

It ought to be faster, so theoretically less problem running the browser at the same time as Elsinore.

There shouldn't be any reason why it wouldn't work out of the box.

    Need advance electrical help

If you've got a meter, you should also be able to measure the resistance on your element if you set it to ohms. No need to fire it, just touch the leads to the terminals on the element.

Electric BIAB Basement Brewery aka Lone Wolf Brewing

Can you post a pic or two of the sliding rail you rigged up? How it's attached to the ceiling, how the hoist is attached to it, etc?
