Adding fruit extract by the ml?

Well it looks like the guys at the LHBS were right. I added only 3 ml to the bottling bucket, and tasted a slight raspberry flavor. I let a couple others taste it and they agreed. Wondering if the flavor will come out more after it is carbonated, guess I'll find out in a couple of weeks

Adding fruit extract by the ml?

Hey all, I am about to bottle my first fruit beer. A raspberry wheat. I know I should use real fruit instead of extract but I am on a very strict budget at the moment. I am looking for a subtle raspberry flavor..I want it to taste like BEER with fruit in the background. The guys at the LHBS told...

    mead fermentation time/temperature

Sorry to revive such an old thread, but I had the same question and it wasn't really answered. I can only fit one fermenter in my fridge, and really want to make a batch of mead. With beer, I keep it temp controlled for a week then slowly raise the temp to about 70, then take it out and leave it...

    New plastic bucket scratched

I just got a new plastic bucket and am brewing a batch right now. Well I just went to mix star san and noticed there is a deep scratch on this brand new bucket. Since it hasnt been used yet, do you guys think I would be ok using it this one time then tossing it after? Should I RDWHAHB or could...

    LOVE hop flavor, not bitterness

The topic says it all. I'm working on a recipe that is dominated by citrus hop flavor/aroma with the IBUs around 25 so it will still be very smooth and drinkable. To achieve this I want to use a lot of hop bursting. This is my first hoppy beer so I'm not going to dry hop yet. I want to brew it...

    First set of score sheets

I thought there were only light munich and dark munich, learn something new everyday. I use 10L last time. I was also thinking about mixing in a different aroma hop too. Might as well do what you suggested, since I will have some centennial left over.

    First set of score sheets

Thanks! Here's the deal though, I do want to try a new recipe, and if I dont like it, I have the old recipe down to every last detail in the brew notes. I do like the biscuit flavor that the victory adds, however I do agree that this recipe needs more caramel. So I took out the pale chocolate...

    First set of score sheets

I don't use pure O2, I use an aquarium pump with a sterile filter. And thanks!

    First set of score sheets

Thanks for the suggestion! One of the judges was recognized bjcp and the other was certified bjcp. I would love to keep entering my beers but they dont have very many competitions where I live, unfortunately.

    First set of score sheets

Just got back from my first competition. The main reason I entered is for feedback and advice on how I can improve my beer. My american amber ale scored a 37. It says that aromatics are low, slight alcohol taste(I use a temp controlled fridge so I'm trying to figure out what caused that) It also...

    Force carbonation question

One last thing, when I lower the pressure to 12 psi am I supposed to burp the keg and re set the pressure or can I just turn the nob until it reaches 12? Might be a dumb question but I'm 100% new to this, haha

    Force carbonation question

Thanks! I get it now. So even if I carb it the fast way it will still get better and condition with time if I let it sit

    Force carbonation question

Also, I read that the beer is much better if you set the psi lower and leave it on gas for a week or two. If I force carb will it still get better after a couple weeks, or do I need to slow carb it?

    Force carbonation question

Got back from the LHBS earlier and immediately kegged my northern english brown. This is my first time kegging and the guy at the LHBS told me to set the psi to 25 the first day, 15 the second day, then 10 on the third day. Do you all recommend I follow his advice? If so, what should I set the...

    Low profile couplers

Thanks a lot! And I have no idea what kind of keg I'm getting yet, next weekend I'm taking a trip to the LHBS to get everything and was going to talk to them about which one I should get

    Low profile couplers

Hey everyone, I'll be getting my first keg set up soon. Problem is, my chest freezer is only 26 inches tall. I did some research and found out I can still fit kegs if I use the low profile couplers. Has anyone used them and are there any disadvantages? Thanks

    Getting into kegging

It's tax season and I can finally afford to get a kegging set up, so where do I start and where can I find some good deals? Thanks
