    Angle Iron vs. Square Tube?

I used mattress frames. I got the frames super-cheap ($10 for all the steel to make my stand) and just used a wire wheel to clean the powder coating off the steel. I bought a cheap flux-core welder and learned to weld from a friend that welds. My stand is almost done. I am VERY happy so far with...

    Electric 1.5 BBL Upgrade

I am not a professional brewer. I am not an expert by any means. However, I am close friends with and converse with several professional brewers and every one of them have imparted the advice to me that you want to start on at least a 3-5 bbl scale for a tasting room/brewpub scale. 7/20 bbl...

    Help! over carbed beer

Dude, I think I have serious Man-Love for this thread. I have been fighting the issue of overcarbed beer with my last three kegs and I just tried this out. It works! I have been so frustrated the past couple weeks I have been about at wits end trying to solve the "too much-too little carb issue...

    Fixing a bottle bomb

Now that I think about it, this might actually work if you pour carefully/purge the bucket with C02 before hand and sterilize everything.

    Fixing a bottle bomb

As tough as it may sound, I volunteer my services to aid you in this endeavor. I am en route as we speak with a couple Papa Murphey's pizzas, "FASTER & FASTEST" on DVD, and a sleeping bag. I'll be there shortly. :ban:

    Priming sugar in keg

I do this quite often. This is for a 5 Gallon Corny. 1/3 cup table sugar for Stouts/Ales & 1/2 cup table sugar for Ciders, Pilsners, (lighter beers) etc. Boil the "priming sugar" in 1 cup water for approximately 10 minutes to kill any nasties. Kill the heat and gently pour it down the inside of...

    Weldless sightglass how to?

I am all about DIY. But for the quality that you receive from the products that Bobby M provides, you just can't go wrong. I just bought two sightglass kits with T-fittings and a RIMS kit from BREWHARDWARE.COM and honestly, for the prices you're really better off going with his "proven"...

    RIMS tube kit

Bobby, in my other "past-time" I have come to find that with Chinese parts there can be a wide variable with respect to measurements. It is best to stick with the most well-established vendor because your chances of consistency are greatest. Changing vendors will inevitably result in changing...

    RIMS tube kit

Bobby, that is the element I am going to go with. I actually had another buddy recommend it to me as well. I am under the thought process that "Anything worth doing is worth doing right!" Therego, I will gladly dedicate a 20 amp breaker to my brewing rig. In time I intend to run 100 amps to my...

    RIMS tube kit

Bobby, I don't mind at all. I'm actually going to be mock-fitting the RIMS to my system I am fabricating today and I'll be taking a couple pictures. I don't have an element selection made yet but I will be going with a 120 Volt element if you can recommend one that you think would work well with...

    RIMS tube kit

I just bought this RIMS kit and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it! The pieces are quality stainless steel, very clean threads, and it assembles/disassembles very easily. Since I was in the market of buying, I also purchased a couple stainless t-fittings and sightglass kits. VERY nice items as...

    WARNING to newbie homebrewers!

I'm pretty much in the same boat as many of you. I'm 32, I retire from the Military in 6 years, and I know what I want to be when I grow up. The military paid for my Masters in psyche which was for my job, but I think after 20 years I'm done with that. My plan is to finish an MBA I've started...

So is it not even worth using this?

I have had the LD Carlson fail me one too many times. I can confirm it failed me because I am religious about using cleaners/sanitizers the entire time I'm brewing. Using just LD Carlson I have had 4 infections in 20 brews. Relying solely on Starsan to sanitize everything, I have experienced...

Making the transition from extract to grain with limited equipment

Try to find a "used" turkey fryer setup on Craigslist. If you already have a 9 gallon pot ready to go, stick with that as your brewing vessel if you are going to do BIAB. You can typically find a Turkey Fryer setup for less than $100. Grab yourself a Voile bag from a LHBS or even a paint...

Probably a stupid question about secondary, but...

No such thing as a stupid question! Especially not here. I use Ale Pales as secondary all the time. I mostly use them for short-term secondary IE: clarifying, racking prior to kegging, and cold-crashing because its rather easy to move them about with the handle provided. I have read that...

BIAB with nylon paint strainer bag

NO! Its unlikely to melt since the surrounding wort will keep it from melting temps, but there is always the chance it can happen. Buy a metal colander from Walmart for @ $2-3 and save yourself the headaches.
