Holy Balls! - Kolsch still fermenting at 5 weeks

Thanks for this post. My Ale-toberfest with WLP029 is almost three weeks deep in the primary. It started at 1.056 and I was hoping for ~1.014 as my FG (mashed at 152). After two weeks, and a sulfer-heavy beginning to fermentation, it seemed to stall at almost 1.028. Now, it's down to 1.022...

    Bottle vs. Can

Love Brewery Vivant and canned beers. Their Big Red Coq and Zaison are great. I am actually beginning to think that an ipa's mouthfeel and hop character is better out of a can. Heady Topper and Norm's Raggedy Ass IPA from GriffinClaw have pushed this line of thinking for me.

    Imperial Fuggle IPA

What kind of honey? I've found that little sugars present within honey are fermentable. Not sure if the type of honey matters, but I would imagine something 'purer' and thick has less fermentable sugars than a honey that is more processed and liquid-like.

3rd batch in the secondary and the lessons I've learned

Thanks for the post. I am like 10 batches in and oh the lessons I've learned. I always get a little down whenever I make a mistake - gotta hate stuck mashes!!! - but your batch #2 story allowed me to put my own blunders in perspective. Had the same stuff happen with my first batch as yours -...

What Beer Turned You on to Craft Beer?

Growing up in Boston, I had steady availability of Harpoon and Sam Adams. But, it was a Stone IPA when I was 21 that totally changed my world. Drinking beer was never the same.

    Imperial/Double IPA Recipes Please

Search the forums gallagher. There are tons of recipes out there. I think you could probably find a recipe on here that would be cheaper than the Northern Brewer Kit but the one kit I've made from them (SMASH Ale -got it for free!!) was pretty good.
