How long does brew day take you?

Those are some good tips. I'd like to wake up to sparge water at the right temp!

    Vintners Harvest Cherry Puree

Did you ask you lhbs? Mine doesn't keep all flavors in stock but they can get anything. I think they usually run 15-25 for a 49oz can, depending on flavor.

    "Big Mouth Bubbler" Review (w/photos)

I've got a batch in 6.5 gal now. Airlock fits nice with a bung in the lid. I didn't realize you could use that plastic cup like that. Might give it a try. I have a 1" blow off tube that I think might fit. I'll check it out later when I get home.

    Pumping wort

Immersion chillers aren't made to pump wort through. You hook up to cold water and put the chiller in your hit wort.

    Vintners Harvest Cherry Puree

Why did you decide the not let the purée ferment? I'm thinking you may get more sweetness than you want.

Series of Brew Recipes Based on Dexter. Ideas?

Taking from the opening sequence a pomegranate breakfast ale might be nice.

Maybe a blood orange wheat... that actually sounds really good, might be next on my list.

    Vintners Harvest Cherry Puree

I read that a cold crash as well as some pectic enzyme ( double dose) really helps but haven't tried either yet.

    Vintners Harvest Cherry Puree

I've used cherry before for a stout and I'm using it again right now for a strong ale. They taste good. Same issue with any purée is getting it to clear up.

    Big mouth bubler

They are glass. I've got a 6.5 gal one with a batch in it right now. It's really nice. Only complaint is it was hard to carry. I'll probably pick up a brew hauler strap soon. I used a milk crate this time

    New to All grain

14.5 lbs of grain is probably not going to fit. Use the "Can I Mash It" calculator.... http://www.rackers.org/calcs.shtml You'd be better off building the 10 gal tun or stick with grain bills that are 10 lbs or less.

Better cooling efficiency with counterflow wort chiller

I found this.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yz4CoITHX3M looks like copper is a LITTLE bit better than stainless when it comes to cooling wort, but i would think that would mean a difference in a few degrees. In my case I was 20 degrees higher than I had to be. I think, if done...

What could've caused this and what to do about it?

The range for S-04 is 72-75% so based on the 1.058 you said you had, it should be anywhere from 1.014 to 1.016, so you are not far off. Did you do a starter? With a OG of 1.058 you really should have, or at the very least pitched 2 packs of yeast.

    What's in your fermenter(s)?

Started a Belgian strong on Wednesday night. Already hit my target gravity today. Tossed in the honey and candi sugar this afternoon.

Govner1, what is the length of your chiller?

Better cooling efficiency with counterflow wort chiller

Thanks. Glad to know I'm not alone. Thought maybe I was doing something majorly wrong.

Better cooling efficiency with counterflow wort chiller

That's a great idea but my equipment budget is blown. We'll see how the next batch goes with the ice bath.
