Trust me, I know the feeling. No worries. Reel may have actually FINALLY had to go to work today, so he may not be on right away. Or he had ANOTHER day off and is sleeping in again.

At this point it is Reel's grain, as he paid for the order. It will be up to him when it becomes up for grabs. Wait for him to respond and we will go from there. He did say that if he doesn't hear from Mike before Friday then he would need to find it a home. Patience gentlemen. :D

Not a lot of water left...

Another idea if you are using a smaller pot is to keep some water boiling while the wort is boiling and if you start to notice the volume decreasing, pour some boiling water in there to got the volume back up. This will help with hop utilization as well.

That's fine. It would be great if we could get it all picked up by 5 or 6 for those that are working. If that doesn't work for someone just let me know and we can discuss it. It's not as big a deal this time if I have to wait since they will still be open, but I don't wanna have to stay...

I will go by there tonight and just make sure someone will be there Thursday to receive if it happens to show up. Most likely it won't be a problem. I think the brewers are there everyday during the week, and the tavern will be open anyway. I printed the spreadsheet yesterday to use for...

I was wondering about that this morning as well. I just looked at the forecast for Hickory and it looks fine fo rthe rest of the week. Hopefully if they got a little behind yesterday and today they can catch up throughout the rest of the week. I guess we'll see what heppens. Hopefully...

I was incorrect about what time the tavern at Fullsteam opens. It opens at 12:00 instead of 4:00 so feel free to come by earlier and grab a pint or 2.

Brewing beer in a small apartment

Best way to find out is to get your biggest pot out of the cupboard and fill it with water and crank up the stove and see what it can do. Then you'll know for sure. You should be able to boil at least 3 gal I would think. I used to do around 4 on my stove until I got my burner. Good luck!

Dont Put Dark Munich in an IPA!

Regardless, I wouldn't write it off just yet. Just keg/bottle it and put it away and forget about it for a while. Then you'll find it again down the road and give it another try. Time may help round out the flavors you don't like.

I assumed everyone, or at least one of each pairs of splitters will be bringing some sort of vessel. We should have access to their scale there. It's just on the other side of the room from where I'll be separating the grain. If anyone has a scale that can handle about 30#, feel free to bring...

I big round of applause for Reel getting all this together! Thanks Reel! Ok, so delivery will be Friday. I will post in this thread and on the GRABASS email list once I hear it has been delivered. I'm hoping everyone can get to Fullsteam Friday at some point to pick up or arrange someone...

I will take care of that. Maybe I'll run down there at lunch and see if they are around. If not, the tavern opens at 4 and I can go after work, weather permitting. For contact info, you can use Brooks Hamaker and the phone number is 919-682-BEER (2337). You can also use me. I'll PM you my...

Are you going to watch the BCS Championship?

It should be an interesting game for sure. High scoring and lots of action. Lots of time off usually lends itself to some trickeration on occasion as well!

    Light American Pale Ale

You could, or you could lower your mash temp to get more fermentable sugars. That was gonna be my suggestion just reading the recipe. Other than that I think the recipe looks solid. Happy brewing!

    Travel and Beer

http://beermapping.com is an awesome tool to use whenever I'm headed out of town. It probably won't do a lot for you in the small towns, but for the cities it's great!
